hi i'm josh ellsworth with stahls TV and
this cat works live in Rogers Park and
also condensing them or grouping them
within the cat works design studio as
this is a very helpful feature that will
allow you to create artwork that's just
a notch above the rest so we have a
design on the design screen now that
when selected is selecting all as one
image this means it's moving is one
image
it's sizing is one image it's rotating
as one image and if I wanted to select
an individual component of this image I
cannot at this point when I'm trying to
colorize it color rises the whole image
together so what I want to show you is
if we wanted to break this down to kind
of colorize individually it can be very
easy all I need to do is with my object
or item select it I go up to shaping and
I can break it apart now if there are
more than one color in the design I can
break it apart by colors I can also
break it apart by regions or break it
apart by curves so this goes from least
detail to most detailed breaking it
apart so let's start with the regions to
edit the individual objects now when I
break it apart by regions I am able to
select the O and the name Payton down
here but it's actually selecting the
whole object the O object together even
though there's two sets of cut lines
here if I were to break it apart all the
way by curves for that particular object
will show you the example that's going
to allow me to move the center of the O
independent of the outside so it just
gives you an idea if you're not able to
grab something keep trying to break it
down to a further level
let me just undo that to get it back to
normal
okay so with the item broken down this
allows me to select individual pieces to
colorize so if I want to do sort of an
alternating colors on the chevron
pattern I can just hold the shift key on
my keyboard here I'm sorry the control
key on my keyboard select the colors
that I want to add if I want to make
those blacks no problem maybe I want to
make the outside of the butterfly black
as well and let's just say I want to
make this star a little larger it's
really easy when you can grab individual
components of the design colorize those
edit those uniquely I also may want to
grab this little piece right here if I
can draw a little bounding box around it
to grab it and delete that out of there
that's a little piece I wouldn't want to
weed so this allows you to get really
granular with editing your design by
breaking things apart what I always
recommend doing is grouping things by
color you're actually able to start with
some of the smaller parts of the design
once again holding ctrl I'm going to
select everything that's black here on
the screen once it's colorized and I'm
gonna go back to shaping and condense
those together or group those together
that's the proper command that you want
now I'm able to kind of move the black
layer around and then I can also do the
same thing and group the orange layer or
group the individual components of the
design using the condense command as I
