hi there and welcome back to day 20 of
my free video series on how to write a
book ASAP my name is Gary Pearson and
today we're going to talk about talking
or speaking your book and that's exactly
what I did with my first book was
success takes so let me show you how I
did it
hi there everyone my name is Garrett
Pearson author of the book how to write
a book ASAP the step-by-step guide to
writing your first book fast today is
day 20 only 10 more days to go we're
focusing on the writing process and
yesterday in day 19 we we talked about a
couple tips and techniques and the tools
and things that you can use to write
your book and I wanted to focus today on
how I wrote my first book what success
takes and I actually spoke that book so
what I mean by that is i sat in front of
a recorder and everything that was in my
mind I spoken and I spoke it by chapter
okay and then I got it transcribed so
from my book on page 98 it says note
this is not for everyone but it may work
for you it worked for me my last three
books I didn't speak I just wrote them
on my macbook pro in Microsoft Word okay
I do plan on speaking more books though
it was an awesome way to do it okay so
here's the steps and tools to speak your
book step 1 purchase a recording device
or use one that is built into your
computer i purchased an audio technica
USB mic okay model at2020 that's
probably old by now but it was a great

it and I did that because I wanted great
quality so i could turn the book into an
audio book to go along with the printed
version so when you're speaking your
book you're actually killing two birds
with one stone as they say okay but you
can use anything that records your voice
you don't have to spend a lot of money
okay don't again don't get caught up
with the technology just use something
that a transcriber can transcribe or
that you can transcribe later step to
find recording software only needed if
using a microphone for your computer I
used a free software called audacity
audacity that you can download and the
link will be below audacity Sal
sourceforge net and the link will be
below this video step 3 record that's
pretty simple right recording now an
important tip make sure the audio is
recording test thoroughly you don't want
to speak a whole chapter and realize
later that you didn't record any of it
so when you sit down to record and speak
your book make sure the recording is
working ok step 4 edit your recording
with the software that you're using ok
whatever you choose to record the soft
recording software that you choose to
use use that more than likely that will
allow you to edit so really you're just
taking your arms and all the things that
you don't want in your book out step 5
send the recorded files to a transcriber
or you transcribe it yourself I suggest
you send it to a transcriber an
outsourcer that can do a lot quicker I
used tomorrow ventas are I think that's
how you say her name she's been amazing
I've used her for years ok she's fast
reliable and accurate you can find her
at TBE and tzu our wordpress com again
the link will be below this video she's
awesome but there's tons you can go to
Elance calm guru calm and find tons of
transcribes you just send them the audio
files that you edited and they will
transcribe and send you back the
transcribed written version of your
chapters step 6 after you have reviewed
and revised the transcription
transcriptions send them to your copy
editor for editing and we'll discuss
ending later over the next couple days
so that is it basically the amazing
thing is now you have the audio and the
written word after its transcribed you
can package your book into two channel
distributions which is audiobook and
written
okay actually three with digital book
ebook as well so with that being said
this is totally up to you okay I gave
you some tips today on how to speak your
book if it's not for you then go the
writing room I've done both both have
been amazing so this might be an option
that really catches your attention okay
so those are some tips just right I
can't say that enough just right and if
you're going to speak just speak just
get going the writing process is work
but it can be fun as well tomorrow I'm
going to give you some more tips from my
book we're going to be talking about
some different ideas of let me see here
the five main points of writing the
writing process there's really only five
