today is all about
traditional publishing versus
self-publishing so let's begin
hello everyone welcome back to day 25 my
name is Garrett Pearson author of the
book how to write a book ASAP and today
we're gonna be focusing on publishing
and if you've been watching all these
videos we you know that you've been
riding riding riding over the last
couple days or depending on where you're
watching these videos over the last
couple months or even years and that's
fine you're back and you're ready to
publish that book so by this point you
should have your rough draft okay your
rough draft is you just wrote wrote
wrote wrote wrote and now your book is
finished up and to the point where you
haven't done rewrites and you haven't
edited or you have a proof read but it's
ready to start that process so today I
want to focus on traditional publishing
versus self-publishing so you can know
the route that you need to go because if
you're gonna go the traditional
publishing route your rough draft is
really your manuscript that you're gonna
start sending out now you're gonna
probably want to spruce it up and come
up with something a little bit nicer and
neater but they most traditional
publishing expect you know your
manuscript or your rough draft to be a
little bit rough around the edges and
it'll go to editing on their side
self-publishing you need to know if
you're going to do that because you're
gonna have a couple things that you need
to work on to get to the actual printed
version or the actual ebook okay so what
we're gonna focus on today is your
decision your decision it is your
decision okay don't let anybody even
myself try to tell you otherwise or try
and persuade you okay because it is up
to you what you want to do if you've
always dreamed about becoming a New York
kind of a seller then you're going to
want to go the traditional publishing
route nothing you can't become a New
York Times best seller being a
self-publisher it's just a lot more
difficult and that's just the cold hard
facts it's getting easier and easier to
be a New York Times best seller or a
best seller and self-publishing but if
you want if you want to shoot for this
stars then you need to go the
traditional publishing route now let's
talk and focus on the traditional
publishing route it's tough it is very
hard it's cutthroat even more and more
these days traditional publishing
companies only want the best books
because they're struggling ok it's hard
to sell books nowadays for these
traditional publishers ok so it is a
hard way to go to be honest I've never
done it and I've always gone the
self-publishing route which we'll get to
in a minute ok I'm being very honest
with you traditional publishing route is
very very tough and in my author success
training system did you can learn more
about it how to write a book ASAP calm
that is my paid membership system and in
it I have interviewed literary agents
editors publishers a interviewed tons of
people in the traditional publishing
realm that have taught that teach my
students exactly what they need to do in
the best way to create your query letter
to create a manuscript to get in touch
with literary agents get in touch with
editors and publishing companies to get
your book out there ok but what you'll
find on the traditional publishing route
is it's a long road and even when you do
get accepted it's usually a year after
you get accepted that your book gets
published ok so there's lots of articles
out there I'll put some articles below
this video on the traditional publishing
and kind of the steps to that but just
keep in mind that in my author success
training system I do have a whole course
that teaches all about traditional
publishing and I've interviewed some of
the top people in that realm okay so now
self-publishing I've self-published all
four of my books and I will probably all
of my books unless some publisher just
loves me because I don't want to go that
route I want my book now okay I want I
want to get it out there to the world
now
now the self-publishing route is just as
hard so don't think it's any easier but
you can literally have a book
in your hands in a week to a month okay
that's how fast self-publishing is and
if you go the Kindle publishing or the
eBook publishing you could literally
literally if you edited your book and
proof read your book could have a book
up in 24 hours okay ready to sell for
the world to see so the self-publishing
route although it's not easy it's very
much the way to go in my opinion okay
but I'm not trying to persuade you again
it's your decision
so over the next couple days I'm going
to be going deeper into the
self-publishing route the traditional
publishing route and giving you tips and
resources to help you get ready okay so
tomorrow's video we're going to be
focusing on the steps to self-publishing
all the things that you need to do the
exact steps one two three four five or
however many I have tomorrow exactly
what it is that you need to do to get
your book self-published okay how to get
find editors how to get your book
printed what printer is to go to how to
create your cover at which we've already
talked about in the past but how to
finish that process okay so bottom line
is it's up to you traditional publishing
versus self-publishing they're both
amazing and they both can help you
become an author it's your decision so
over the next couple days we're going to
be focusing on helping you make a
decision okay and these will be the
