hello inspector cool and you're
currently watching the second video in
my premiere tutorial series in this
episode we're going to go over how to
draw six different hairstyles along with
the general rules that apply to most of
them and most other hairstyles that
exist in the world yep okie dokes so as
you can see we have a bunch of other
faces that we drew in the last tutorial
on how to draw head spaces and six
emotions so we will focus on this head
for now so generally we want to make
sure that your hair makes sense if
you're going to go for like the yugioh
hair looks then they don't need to make
sense but this we're assuming that you
want them to make at least some some
sort of sense in the physical realm of
existence right so um I like to have my
hair generally starting from a corner of
the head even though the head has no
corners because it's round I had coffee
and it'll generally go in a similar
direction as your hair comes to get
there so this hair will originate from
right around here and along the edge of
the banks so all of this here will be
going in this direction make sure that
your strands kind of makes some sense
and then starting from here where the
one batch of hair meets the next we will
start deviating in terms of direction so
here we're going to go behind the ear
and it's going behind the head now in
this position is kind of confusing to
see what will happen here but we're
going to assume that our characters hair
keeps on persisting so from here it'll
be going out this way and then this way
and this way and then it'll just keep
continuing as you go along the perimeter
of the head towards the back because
actually I yeah it'll probably make
sense if I explain what this hair was
going to be in the first place which was
big bangs and ponytail in the back so on
the hair is kind of pulled back around
to the back of the head
so yeah that's this is this is the back
of the hair the reason why it's not a
nice line is I'm assuming that the hair
is not pulled perfectly back so you're
gonna have some some ridges happening
also notice how the scalp of the head is
we're not we're not making our hair
tight to the scalp because normally hair
has some mono has some volume and we
want to portray that through the
hairstyle so we can actually go here as
soon as we draw that and just kind of
erase the way parts of the head that are
concealed I'm always a bit sad when I
could I have to erase away I is or
eyebrows or things that I've worked hard
to give life to but it's all part of the
process I'll part of drawing can get too
attached to your drawings or else you're
never going to erase anything and then
it actually makes it really hard to
continue drawing if you get too attached
to the parts that you've already drawn
at least in my experiences so anyway we
have that so far and now we will kind of
make a little bun thing here and this is
where the ponytail is originating from
so we're assuming that the ponytail
starts from around the back of the head
goes up and then down so we'll to make
this part of the hair make quick motions
I kinda try to curve towards the general
area of the hair so I sort of stopped
making sense again but that's of course
assuming that I was making sense from
the beginning ah big assumptions okay so
that is that that is hair for this
particular character now we'll go to
this character it'll be fairly similar
but the part will be in the middle of
the head I'm going to breeze through
this one a little quicker than the last
one because I want to get to the next
one next character which will be a
little more technical and a little
easier to teach and to learn I assume
because when I teach
i feel like i have actually making some
progress and the for things like this
one I'm just kind of saying they do this
stroke and then do this stroke then make
this one like that and then / / / and
then tada there's a novel it's not an
all that's internet oh gosh it's getting
really hot because you know what you
know what I drank coffee because I was
trying to fall asleep today and then I
was like nah this coffee is gonna be
good it's gonna give me energy and I'm
gonna be able to talk but I also
realized that whatever I dude my
tutorials I closed the door so that I
don't just yell throughout the entire
house and and a tan and we are having
like crazy crazy crazy hot days where I
live so these these hot days are not
they are not welcome it's hot things
sorry pull it together I am pulling it
together and we are drawing and our
character is this is existing and I'm
gonna erase out of this but just so that
I have something to open i just do I
just oh ok there ok sorry always part of
the scalp um so yeah just so that we
have a little bit of continuity in this
and this drawing Oh kind of update you
on what's happening and so the general
rules that I followed when I drew this
hair for this the line that the hair
originates from is a line that goes back
through the back the head and it just
kind of peers from
this line and just goes all around and
kash kade's around everywhere mix big
hair okie and she won't have very long
hair it'll be shorter which is odd
because I usually have my characters
have giant super duper absolutely Miku
hair but we're not doing that this time
but I could do that in another video if
you want such a video i could make
another hair tutorial and it'll be
luscious and defying gravity and you
know all of the great things in life um
so yeah that's that one let's go over
here so here is the character that will
have braids first of all we'll draw a
little bit of bangs her hair is gonna be
a little bit different than the other
ones because she's going to have to pay
as the bangs it's gonna be kinda cool
indie from there and
the hair yes those are this mm I'm sorry
I saw the mic go read just now that
means I made a big noise big noise is a
bad for viewing okay and then we are
having another instance of this hair
where the hair is getting pulled back so
it's going to be a little closer to the
head and I'd like to draw little pairs
of lines is really lightly just two
cannons distinguish the direction in the
hair I'll give her some extra of these
little dangles next to the side of your
head but here's the main part of the
hair which is Eurasian the scalp no oh
no that's just something that you always
do unless you don't draw the entire head
which means that you're better at
drawing than me oh no you just you just
know it could mean that but it also
could mean that you just a lot more
decisive than your drawing which I beat
around the bush so much yeah just all
the bushes beware because I will beat
around you so much okay so we are
drawing braids and it's going to be gone
like from the back of the head even
though that looks from the front earth
the center of her forehead no it's going
from the back of the head and it's going
to be going this way and now this line
is actually important because it's the
middle of the braids it's gonna start
kind of fat and and skinnier so right
there so with Braves like this
generally they're kind of horrible and
confusing but if you break it down to a
few simple cheating steps you can make
things happen in a way that you can
trick people into thinking that they're
real okay so what I like to do is start
with a nice curvy line this way and
curvy line that way curvy line this way
make sure that they're concave up wait
right that's the right concavity I don't
know but yeah make them fairly shallow
so not like this but not so shallow that
they're just a line try to get a happy
medium I've actually drew this like a
bunch of times on a piece of paper
before I started this video just to make
sure I knew what I was doing which is
still not making sure that I know what
I'm doing cuz I honestly don't know what
I'm doing okay sorry no give me I have
some what's that word nope can't think
of the word okay so now that you have a
squiggle this first part just can't take
my word for it just draw those and now
use yeah these these ones will will
coincide you'll draw it all the way to
one of the points another one to that
point and then this is where things
start coming together you come out from
the previous line on that side come out
kiss the outside of the guide and then
draw it right back to that next point
and now from here you kind of see where
the first break comes out imagine that
comes through here comes right outside
that line kisses the guide and then goes
in to
the next braid and then you just
continue so what you're doing right here
is this hair is going under that next
one and it's reappearing right here so
if you do that and you just kind of
think about how the physical world works
you can generally get it to be fairly
believable and as your hair gets more uh
more thin towards the end as your get a
little bit of it you got some strange
sticking ants in there but anyway make
it thinner and thinner until you reach a
point that you can stop and then thank
goodness we can stop right here and then
say loop and loop just kind of draw a
bunch of bunch of overly things to
signify that you have a little scrunchie
thing around it and then I like to top
mine off with a little bit of hair
that's just kind of going nuts oops okay
so there's that if you want to add a
little bit of shading right off the bat
which kind of helps you get some
dimension to that just at the bottom of
each of these little v's just do a bunch
of lines up words that originate from it
I accidentally rotated the canvas but
that shouldn't matter and then after you
do that you'll have a little more depth
to it okay so now that we have that one
well go to our crazy character over here
and give her no bangs essentially which
means that we are trying the dreaded
hairline which I am
a little shaky on myself but based on
people I know who are slightly balding
or just internet reference just Google
search hair back you can kind of see
that hairline not not like a super
widow's peak we're not drunk Vegeta here
but we are drawing a character who has
hair that is going back and is pulled
back wow I draw a lot of pulled back
hair no I never really realized that
just takes a tutorial and a bunch of
babbling to realize that your your hair
repertoire is kind of small and by your
i mean mine um so yeah there's more of
our double pair lines that are just kind
of up to the sky and then I don't really
don't like to keep it like this so I'll
have a couple of stray lines that just
look come off of the hair
you can across the eyes sometimes that
because that gives it that edgy look so
for drawing these kinds of things you
just draw one curve and then do your
next one a little bigger and try to
converge at both the beginning and the
end okay so that's that see I imagine
that this character will have like a bun
in the back and then crazy hair sticking
out so that's what's gonna happen
where's can see the crazy explosion of
hair coming out from behind her head and
after that we'll just call her done so a
lot of it will be focused downwards
because gravity but you know normally if
you're drawing if you are drawing this
character shall have a body but then you
won't be able to see like the bottom
here but I make yeah that's as this
character and will embrace them the
scalp oh this is the only character that
we haven't erased away like part of her
eye or I browser something sad like that
okay so now let's draw this character
who here is going to be a good teaching
point all the hair will originate from
the very top middle of her head so just
kind of keeping that trend going I'll
draw several guidelines not really
guidelines but just just to kind of keep
a trend going so that most line site
draw will come between these and go in
the same direction
but this character will just have a lot
of hair in front of her or just
cascading everywhere everywhere not very
well kept just a lot of big chunks of
hair falling down and one thing that you
want to try to avoid if you're trying to
avoid certain mistakes that I used to
make at least is don't don't don't make
a bunch of hair just coming down like
that if you draw too much too many of
the strands then it starts looking busy
and I don't it looks kind of buzz hoodie
at that point which if you're going for
that then that's awesome but a lot of
the times you won't be going for that
but that's just that's just more
assumptions on my part I'm just an asumi
assumer today but yeah
this character is gonna have a lot of
hair just gonna wear everywhere his hair
is the character that don't care about
her and yep so a lot of things are going
on just more of the hair sticking out
one thing that you can kind of see here
is that as I give this characters hair
more body I'm making fairly quick
movements with the tip of the pen with
the tippet a pen that's fun to say well
that just kind of gives them more of the
flowing feel because if you draw like
that that not very appealing just just
in my opinion but
a lot of times you can make some hair
that's just kind of going in opposite
random directions and as we go along
we'll just see that here what so I
thought that that had no no structure in
the English language what am I talking
about right now okay so that that is
that is our anger here she is used to
store nuts oops and there is going
everywhere and now the sad hair the sad
hair is the fun hair because it's like
the hair that I draw mostly so this
arrow originated from here so I'll draw
a little bit here love it here
this is actually the just a kind of girl
version of the hair that I draw on my
own character that represents me so it's
fun to draw I can have a general idea of
how I how I always draw it so notice
that these lines are coming off
originating from that point in the back
of the head so after I draw these lines
I like to fill them in
so I don't want to have just huge clumps
so I'll add little strands every now and
then yep so little strands between the
big clumps then as we go along reach
there now continuing from where we
started before last that will add more
of the side hair sideburn hair that's
just kind of nice
really at least if your character
doesn't have this then you don't even
have to bother with it but yeah so as we
go just keep remembering big strokes
this character is gonna go have her hair
be around the neck so this is going to
be the only character that has any neck
or shoulders because
I want to draw the hair going over here
so kind of like how we draw the bangs of
the first character do this kind of drag
it approached for there and draw some
lines coming from it then you can draw a
strand or to just stray and as for this
hair we will continue from the top one
thing about this hair is that it's
broken up into a lot of strands but all
flows in some of the same direction so I
generally like drawing this kind of hair
because if you have just one surface
that goes all in the same direction it's
like drawing a perfect circle you don't
really like it's hard to draw a perfect
circle but you can draw like a fairy
circle like that we're looks like Sonic
we don't draw sonic here but we can but
we don't because Sonic's not an anime
girl which is pretty much all that I
draw oh man expand your mind expand your
horizons oh oh and you can't forget the
whole doable don't do oh no boo boo whoa
whoa unkempt unkempt okay and yeah
that's that um I think I think I think I
think I think that's it is that it I'm
not sure let me erase part of oh no I
was on the wrong water water water ok
now look over here can I go between
okay and let's draw some lines that try
to bring some continuity through the
hair make them all coming from the same
place and yeah I think that's just about
it if I make a copy of it will make it
even darker yeah that's darker okay so i
think that's that's it one thing Wow so
yeah let's just recap what we we went
over sista hair has to come from a fake
a specific place on the head and
generally unless you have two spiky hair
and I just goes everywhere then you
don't really have to have that but even
so like Naruto his hair comes from a
portion of his head and it goes in
slight directions but that's that's
beyond the point this isn't how to drive
the route oh it is how to draw just here
in general yeah so like this character
your hairline is right here all the
banks come up and around up and around
up and around like that and then on the
back hair originates from there also
just keeps going
this character of course this right here
all the hair just goes do do do do dodo
over here we have a fairly similar hair
line as first one over here is the
hairline is the anatomical hairline and
over here we have a point that all the
hair comes out of and then over here we
also have a point but all here comes
