Tutorial - Drawing with a Mouse [SAI] Video Lecture - Paint Tool SAI Tutorial

hello everyone this but Jericho and I'm
finally back with another tutorial video
this time we'll be going over how to
draw with a mouse yay
just to be clear this is about how to
use the mouse instead of a tablet pretty
much it won't be teaching pretty much
anything about how to draw in the anime
style anyway this video has been
requested by trotty go stratagem
Stratego 89 px and a bunch of other
persons people because yeah I've been
lazy recently so I haven't been writing
things down like I usually do
anywho um I'll just go over with that
yeah I'll use the airbrush a to sketch
um also airbrush make sure the density
is a little lower because it is high
then it's pretty much the same as
drawing with the pencil or pen tool and
yeah about 20 percent is where I like it
and also just make sure when you sketch
I won't be showing too much of this
because of time constraints and
attention stands
but sketching just go slowly make sure
value accuracy and precision more than
smooth lives because the sketching
process it's really super rough because
everything will start looking nice when
we do the outline I'm going to delete
your names try to go

that's this how's everyone doing it's
been like four months since I've done a
tutorial video I was going to do this
one in particular actually uh over
winter break I had everything set up
even this camera and my microphone and
stuff then as I was about to hit the
record button I was again
I don't want to do anything this
vacation so I didn't and I just stopped
and now it's a month later and yeah as
always I should be studying but really
who cares but no that's a bad thing to
say you go study and stuff I should
study oh my gosh I'm sorry I'm not
supposed to be worrying about that okay
no I mean not studying about this
person's face I have a minute and 17
seconds left for this portion see I'm
planning things out are you proud of me
yeah
so I'll just speed up the rest of this
and how it goes back to you when we when
we're gonna do the line art okay speed
time and we're back uh as you can see
this isn't the greatest of sketches ever
but and I've said before it's you know
attention I guess okay anyway uh control
e to put on the letters together show T
to address shift and drag to keep the
while enlarging or shrinking I'm just
doing that because sketches tend to not
make them in the size that I want them
in anyway main part of this section will
be the line work layer as you can see
and that very right side screen make one
of those they're also called vector
layers and different translations of
sigh as I've said before in other videos
and yeah primary color to black go to
the curve tool and this is where the fun
part happens I am at the over here 14 as
my line width okay and I'll just kind of
go along the lines that you want and the
way that I do this is I don't let the
lines really touch or end at the same
place at this point
because I will be doing something
special to them in a second which gets
kind of messed up if they're touching
anyway I yeah main thing about the line
work layer is you're able to edit the
lines after laying them down which is
super awesome and special
all right no more control Z's which I do
a ton of so this is really nice
okay I'll just do the hair for now I
almost beat up the rest of it when we're
done with what I want to cover here yeah
oops that was a bit close but it's okay
okay
sorry now go to pressure over here and
as you can see all of the little points
anchor points have showed up now click
on the end point drag to the left and
yay you have a tapered line okay do that
to two of them hold the control and you
can move that point if you want to move
like the entire line kind of have more
an effect over it then you can hold
shift and so here's where you connect
everything and make it all pretty so
pretty much just do this with everything
it'll get kind of tedious if you have a
bigger drawing but for a small one like
this it's gets the job done without
making me go crazy and you know that's
the might be it all that I really wanted
to say
you can add new anchor points by just
clicking on the line while holding ctrl
and you can see there's a new one there
bump another one hold alt to delete an
anchor line and forgot first multiply
here ctrl + shift to make another one I
just didn't want to make another line so
I will put it over there there is what
was that shift alt to move the entire
line there was it yeah
control and right click to deselect the
line if you want to varus special
YouTube or deviantART friends told me
about that a while ago listen and yeah
ok I guess the rest of this will be in
time-lapse yay

worry this isn't how it turned out I
just wanted to show you how it looks
like without the whole pressure thing
and what it looks like when we do the
pressure
oh ah yeh look like that tablet and
stuff yeah ok so now that we have
the outline layer is time to color now
oh one more thing that I didn't mention
before if you use the eraser tool that
it has while you're erasing it'll look
like you have nice sharp erases but when
you let go
everything's rounded again because it is
still a vector or line work layer it
will curve the edges in roundabouts so
if you actually want to have nice erase
marks there I'm gonna have to minimize
that go to layers and then rasterize see
now it's not a line work layer it
usually shows the little fountain
pattern whatever that is now I can go
back to my usual stuff and do that and
everything is fine but the thing about
rasterizing I just undid it by the way
is that you're not able to edit it as
you are anymore
anyway time to color what I do with
coloring is put these back
first nine video hello there okay
and now neutrally um in that color this
down here and now I can use the one tool
one for W and if you were able to
enclose all of your lives
it should be fine now control F to fill
and like that yay we have some color
just make sure that you go back to the
original layer when you want or the
linework layers over there and then go
back there
les troll H to hide control you to
change how bright that is okay and yeah
I'll just block in these colors and then
I'll show you a simple shading alright
see you in a bit all right so everything
is locked in and now it's time to do a
shading slight shading okay
so here's another new line work layer
we're going to work on the hair right
now I've already picked out a darker
color for this
go back to your curve tool make it big
ctrl alt and drag to pick any of the
colors that are not college sizes that
aren't already there now just go in for
thing that you want go back to pressure
put that down
hold control to move that part
independently of the rest of it we don't
want this to be on that other strand of
hair I just kind of mess with things
until you get what you want
okay now you use the lighter one to do
highlights and the legs you're running
out of time so I will time-lapse the
rest of that and then show you one last
trick at the end okay see that
and we're back
okay the last thing I wanted to do was
first of all I mention that I used
clipping group for these to make sure
that they didn't show over the color and
what I want to do mainly was do a
gradient so get your airbrush out make a
little line go over to the rectangular
select copy that but control see I've
been using the wrong keyboard and
control V control T make a big black
go down enter to stay with it okay
control select or not select YES on or
click now go over there control you and
now you can do things with it
uh-huh okay anyway I'll do that for love
it um but other than that especially
