hey guys what's up I'm Nicole from build
motions calm and welcome to this brand
new After Effects tutorial in this video
I'm going to show you guys how to create
a really clever and really interesting
looking intro in After Effects so
without any further ado let's get
straight into it
and get started alright so here we are
in After Effects let's start by creating
a new composition as always let's rename
this to mein kampf 1920 into 1080 30
frame 10 seconds should be good and hit
OK so the first thing that I'm going to
do is select the rectangle to set the
stroke to around let's go with maybe 20
pixels and we don't need any fill some
and set this to none and hit OK and draw
a rectangle just like that maybe just
change the color to white so we can see
it more properly and let's rename this
to bass and of course you can rename it
to anything that you want
so let's unlink this and I'm going to
start really small so maybe I'll just
set this to around let's go with maybe
700 and let's set this to zero okay that
looks pretty good select layer and let's
align this in the center pretty quick
maybe I'll just slip this off and let's
align this into the center and set this
to 0 maybe I'll make it 600
okay that looks pretty good so now what
I'm going to do is I'm going to go to
one second and maybe ten frames let's
create a keyframe on size go back in
time and set this to zero
go back right over here and I'm going to
set this to five actually something like
that so now we have something like this
as you can see really simple then what
I'm going to do is go to one second and
20 frames select this keyframe hit ctrl
C to copy the keyframe hit ctrl V to
paste the same keyframe then I'm going
to go to three seconds and let's bring
this up to around let's go with maybe
400 pixels and this to 400 pixels as
well so we have something like that and
now we have our animation which looks
something like this really simple
nothing great then what I can do is go
to three second and ten frames or maybe
I'll move this two three three second
and ten frames then I'll go to three
second and 20 frames and copy the same
keyframe so it control-c control-v to
copy-paste the keyframe then I'm going
to go to let's say five second let's set
this to around maybe I'll go with 700
pixels and this would go with maybe
three and pixels something like that so
now we have a really simple animation so
I'll go to your round I'll go to around
five hundred and ten or five second and
ten frames ctrl-c ctrl-v to paste the
keyframes and maybe I think I need to
move the keyframes a little bit so maybe
I'll go three seconds and drag them
right over here
just like that and
pretty good so then what I'm going to do
is go to around seven seconds and let's
see what our animation is okay let's go
to seven seconds and bring this up a bit
maybe around five hundred pixels so
something like that and maybe we'll make
this to around 800 pixels so we have a
really simple animation just like that
okay let's go to seven second and ten
frames ctrl-c ctrl-v to copy is the
keyframe and at last I'll go to nine
second and set this to 300 by 300 so
something like that and there we have it
something like that looks good looks
good
alright so our animation at the moment
is pretty lame so let's select all the
keyframes hit f9 to easy ease those
keyframes go to graph editor select all
the points and drag this handle holding
shift and control she was like so and
then we're going to do the same thing
with the green curves as well make sure
to hold shift and control just to be a
bit more precise while dragging the
handles there we go and last one as well
there we go so now let's check out our
animation
okay looking pretty nice simple and
elegant okay so pretty happy with this
okay
really nice and then what I'm going to
do is I'm going to hit control D to
duplicate it let's call this stroke
underscore or one let's change the color
to maybe something like a red color and
let's give it actually a red maybe a
darker pink or something like that color
let's hit you and then what I'm going to
do is I'm gonna go somewhere around
there and let's pretty quickly first of
all add trimpots so let's go and add
cream pot and set this to 25% pretty
good and maybe I'll just place it
somewhere around 45 degrees pretty cool
so now add an animation we have
something like that as you can see let's
maybe let's go to right over there and
create a keyframe on the offset of the
cream pots and hit you so you can see
just the keyframes those somewhere
around there and let's bring the size up
to around maybe I'll go with 450 by 450
okay I think it's a bit too much big but
we can fix it later on maybe I'll just
set this to 25 pixels okay or maybe 30
pixels yeah that looks pretty good so
now we have a simple animation just like
that and also we need to create a
keyframe ctrl C to copy it go right away
or ctrl V to paste it so it stays right
over there so I think I'm doing
something wrong so let's leave these
keyframes actually I'm going to drag
this keyframe
oh sorry my mistake I'm going to select
this keyframe hit ctrl C go right away
oh and hit control V control C control V
so now what I can do is control C to
copy this keyframe go right away
hit K to jump to the next keyframe and
hit control V to paste it up so it stays
right in the place okay pretty good
maybe I'll drag this keyframe forward a
bit okay let's so right over here and
I'm going to offset this to somewhere
around there
okay okay something like that and let's
bring this up to maybe 800 pixels and
this to 400 pixels something like that
and let's move this or maybe I'll make
it 750 I guess 800 is looking too much
bigger so I'm going to go with 750 by
350 there we go let's tweak the offset a
bit just so that it's almost precise
let's hit control R to bring down the
route rulers and drag the ruler so you
can see more properly and you can close
somewhere around there maybe 1 63 65 165
no I think 163 should work maybe 160 3.5
let's see okay almost close enough okay
pretty good and then what I can do is
control C to copy the keyframe hit K to
jump to next keyframe and hit control V
to paste it up same with the offset
control C control week there you go so
now we have something like that then
let's go right away oh and let's move
this to 850
and this took 550 and then we can offset
this to somewhere around there pretty
good control see jump to the next
keyframe control V same with the offset
control C control V so it's really
simple technique as you can see as you
guys must have got the idea of what I'm
doing right over here so let's offset
this to somewhere around there
maybe 320
oh no maybe
315 I guess yeah 315 perfect and let's
see okay
let's drag this up to 350 by 350 there
we go so let's select the keyframes hit
f9 go to graph editor and drag the
handles to the left holding shift and
control just like that so let's see what
we have till now
as you can see really nice elegant and
looks pretty cool okay pretty happy with
this and now what I can do is just
duplicate this by holding ctrl D to
duplicate it okay and rotate this by
hitting art to bring down the rotation
properties and set this to around set
the rotation to around 180 degrees and
bam there we have a really cool-looking
animation as you can see really nice and
right away I think I get some a little
bit of problems so let's fix this up it
can hit you so you can see just the
keyframes and let's see what we can do
so I think it's the issue with the size
something nope let's see okay we need to
offset this a bit more properly I think
that should work yep that works pretty
good so here we have our animation all
set up nice let's try to make it a bit
more interesting so what I can do is
select both the stroke one and two hit
control D so we have stroke three and
four drag them above and maybe change
the color so we can see it more properly
and let's make them white and let's set
the stroke with two maybe
let's go with seven pixels something
like that and this way they look more
interesting
I feel so but what I can do is I can
rotate them so it are and maybe just
rotate this to around 270 and this to
maybe 40 may 19 X go 9 so now we have
something like this
or maybe I own thing that it doesn't
look really that cool so you can just
control-z it and leave it the way it was
so we up something like that we will
just decrease the stroke pixels to
around let's go with four nice and
simple okay looks looks pretty good so
now let's go ahead and add some text to
it so so the base shape hit ctrl D and
this is going to be our Mac so let's
rename this to Matt underscore or one
and let's change the color to something
like an orange so you can see more
properly let's hide this for the moment
and we don't need a stroke this time or
maybe we need the stroke and let's give
it a fill pretty quick maybe something
like a gray okay
so now what I can do is select a
basehead you so you can see just key
frames and let's figure out our
animation so I'm gonna go right over
here and you can of course type in
anything that you want I'm just going to
type in let's say dope and let's place
it in the center make this a bit bigger
pretty good make sure it's in the center
and then we can basically go ahead and
animate the text so let's select the
text and hit P to bring down the
position properties create a keyframe go
back in time somewhere around there
let's bring this up just like that and
bring the Matt that we just created on
the top of the text and set the text
crack Matt to author Matt so now we have
something like this as you can see if
you don't need a stroke I can just go
right over here and just set the stroke
to zero so let's select the text hit u
so we can see just the keyframes select
the keyframes go into hit f9 to easy
those keyframes going to graph editor
and drag this creating a curve like
so something like something like that
looks pretty good to me and then what I
can do is let's crop this up so hold alt
and close bracket to crop this up just
like so and now let's animate this out
as well so let's select this create a
keyframe go to around four seconds and
I'm going to drag this at the bottom
just like so so now we have something
like that pretty cool now let's go right
over and crop this up holding alt and
close bracket and hit control shift B to
split the Mac so we have the Mac - for
our second text so of course you can
type in anything that you want let's
type in motions there's a bit low so
maybe something that
so let's go right over here select the
text make sure to select the text and
hit P to bring down the position
properties create a keyframe go back in
time to somewhere around there and let's
bring this out just like so and let's
extend our mat as well let's bring this
on the top of the text and set the text
to a format and now we should have
something like this pretty cool let's
make sure to select the text and crop
this up hit you so we can see just the
keyframes select the keyframes hit f9 to
easy those keyframes go to graph editor
and drag this just like so now you have
something like this
pretty cool maybe I'll just edit Forge
the memory just to free up some space
pretty nice then let's copy and paste
this keyframe right over here go to 6
seconds and I'm going to drag the text
out just like so now you have something
like that and then we can crop the text
by holding alt and close bracket and
split the map by holding ctrl shift B
there we go
and then I can just go right over here
and extend the Mac pretty cool let's go
right over and type in our third text
now it can be absolutely anything I'm
just going to type and stay raw stay
creative
bring this in the center bring this a
bit closer pretty nice
let's select the text and hit P to bring
down the position properties and go
right over here and I'm going to bring
this down actually for Scott all right
so now we have something like that let's
set the text track mat well format so
now you have something like that let's
crop the text up so hold alt and close
bracket it's basically the same process
again and again you know you get the
idea right it's going to go after it and
drag this and by the way if your graph
editor doesn't look like this make sure
you're walking in the Edit speed graph
and its value graph a lot of time you
know I got I get comments that my graph
editor doesn't look like you also I'm
walking always in speed graphs so make
sure you're walking in the speed speed
graph so now we have something like that
pretty sweet let's copy-paste the
keyframe control-c control-v to go to
eight seconds and maybe I'll just drag
this up just like so now we have basic
animation just like tack and crop the
text so hold alt and closed bracket and
ctrl shift D to split the mat and let's
pretty quickly drag in the logo so you
have a logo or just a sample logo that I
created you can of course use your logo
or any logo that you want so place it
somewhere around there let's go to Rio
you bring this below the mat change the
track mat to alpha Matt
let's hit P to bring down the position
properties I think I have said this a
lot a lot of time set P to bring down
the position properties hit R to bring
another rotation properties hit P to
bring the opacity and whatnot again and
again but you know there are people who
are who are watching
my tutorials for the first time are
using After Effects you know very
beginners in After Effects so Damon they
may not know the shortcuts so I keep on
repeating the simple shortcut again and
again in my every tutorial so that it's
easy for everyone to follow so yep
that's the thing so let's go right over
you and bring this at the top
bring the mat up so now we have
something like this let's select
keyframes hit f9 good grow up a little
and drag hard rules all then close
bracket and now we have something like
that really really cool a little
animation that I think I could add is
select the stroke the stroke 1 & 2 hit
you so you can see the keyframes go to
maybe 9 seconds and 15 frames and bring
the strokes closer just like so so just
like so so 250 by 250 so let's go over
250 by 250 so just add a bit more
dynamic to this thing pretty cool so
let's see your complete animation and of
course if I select all the layers and
hit you
we have turns and turns of keyframes so
it can be a bit difficult to you know
tweak some settings so yup make sure to
figure out all be satisfied with the
animation as as you proceed so don't
need to tweak it later on so let's see a
complete animation
yep I think this looks really really
cool and interesting and looks really
clever so that is a wrap for today I
