hey guys what's up I am the kill from
Davos news.com and welcome to this brand
new offer effects tutorial into this
video I don't show you guys how to
create a cinematic looking title
animation in After Effects so without
any further ado let's get straight into
After Effects and get started alright so
here we are in After Effects - let's
start by creating a new composition
let's make it full HD 1920 into 1080
let's make this 30fps and the duration
will be 10 seconds that should be good
enough and let's rename this comp to
main as this is gonna be our main
composition hit OK now let's create one
more composition for our title so let's
rename this to title and hit OK and then
we can select the text tool and type in
any text or any title that we want so
I'm gonna type in something like
cinematic you can of course type in
anything that you want and let's set the
font to a different font maybe I'll go
with something like big noodle tiling
something like that let's set this to
zero and also make this a bit bigger
something like that and let's Center
this up so now we have our text ready
now I'm gonna add a little bit of
animation to our text and to do that I'm
gonna go right over here into the text
animate properties and let's add our
tracking then we can easily you know
animate the spacing between our text so
I'm going to set this to somewhere
around 25 and create a keyframe go to 4
seconds and let's set this to zero
let's select both keyframes and hit f9
to easy those keyframes and go into the
graph editor if your graph editor
doesn't look like this make sure to
right-click and select edit in speed
graph let's select this point and drag
the channel to the left just like that
maybe a little bit so now we have
something like this pretty nice and
simple looking animation now what I'm
gonna do is create one more composition
which is gonna be our main title so
let's rename this to main title and hit
OK
let's drag and drop in our title
composition into the main title and your
have few assets that I will be using for
the tutorial so I'm going to use a
texture you can of course use any
texture that you want so let's scale
this down a bit and then make sure make
sure to change the track map of the
texture to alpha matte so now we have
something like that if you don't see the
track mount option you can hit f4 on the
keyboard and that should make it happen
so there we have it now let's go into
the main composition and drag the main
tightly into the main composition just
like so now let's go ahead and create a
background for our animation so let's
hit control Y on the keyboard to create
a new solid and let's call this V G for
background hit OK and I'm going to add
an effect called a ramp gradient ramp
and there we go
let's swap the colors and for this one
I'm going to go with something like a
dark gray or something like that and hit
OK let's increase the ramp scatter to
300 so we don't get any kind of color
bendings and photo ramp shape I'm gonna
set the linear ramp to radial round so
now we have something like that you can
also keep it somewhere around there but
I'm gonna leave it just right over here
maybe I'll make it a bit more darker
just a touch just like that
so there we have our background now what
I can do is let's add a little bit of
curves to this just to make it a bit
more darker and make this a bit lighter
just a touch alright so looking pretty
nice not what I'm going to do is select
the main title and add a bevel alpha
effect on that so we have this really
nice kind of a bevel next to our text
I'll set this to 3.2 maybe and let's set
the light angle to zero and I'm gonna
set the intensity to 1 so now we have
this really nice look as you can see
before and after looking very nice also
I'm gonna add one more effect called
CC light sweep there we go let's change
the direction to maybe 90 degrees so
here something like that and then I can
just drag it just a little maybe
somewhere around just like that so it
gives kind of for your look of a light
onto our text so let's increase the
width to maybe somewhere around 100 and
also I'm gonna set the sweep intensity
to something like 70 or something like
that looks pretty good you just try it a
bit up so something like that and for
the light color I'm gonna go with a
little bit of blueish you know cinematic
look to it something like that so I
think it's looking pretty nice as you
can see pretty good now let's go ahead
now let's go ahead and give it a bit
more depth by creating some shadows so
what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna duplicate
the main title so hit ctrl D to
duplicate it and on second layer I'm
gonna just rename this - let's call this
shadow underscore oh one so this is our
first shadow and then what I can do is
delete the bable bable alpha and the
light sweep so let's delete and I'm
gonna add a fill to this
let's make it black and then I'm gonna
add a drop shadow just like so now let's
increase the distance to 20 and the
softness to 20 years well so we have a
really nice and subtle shadow if I hide
this layer so you can see it more
properly so you can see me willing to
increase the intensity a bit just a
touch just like that no it's a bit
difficult to see because of the dark
background but it's gonna and hide it
it's gonna get enhanced with the second
step so let's hit ctrl D to duplicate it
so now we have shadow one and shadow two
let's leave the shadow to layer and now
what we can do is I'm going to delete
the drop shadow and add a directional
blur
let's solo this layer up so you can see
more properly what is going on it's
alright now let's set the directional
bar increase the blur length actually to
somewhere around let's go something like
70 all right and then what I'm going to
do is I'm gonna add a Gaussian blur to
this and let's increase the Gaussian go
to some around let's go 16 is on like
that alright so now for unsolo this you
can see we have a little bit of you know
shadow for our text so to me just to
make it look more visible I'm gonna just
change the color of the background
something different maybe something like
a darker blue so you guys can see it
more properly something like that so you
can see we have this really nice shadow
for our text all right now you can get a
bit color bending so I think we need to
keep it at a black color and also switch
to 16 bits per channel that will help us
to get rid of the colour bandings now
due to the YouTube compression you may
still see colour bandings but it's gonna
get clearer as you increase the RAM
scatter so I said it's a 500 something
like that or maybe I can get rid of the
curves and let's make it a pitch black
color and that should make it pretty
good yeah that is looking very nice so
that's all with our text maybe a little
change I'll drag the light shape it up
just like a touch alright so we are done
with our text now let's go ahead and
enhance the complete scene so what I'm
going to do is let's create a new solid
so it controlled Y to create a new solid
and let's call this optical flares
underscore oh one and let's change the
blending mode to screen and let's add
optical flares to this there we go let's
go into the option properties clear all
and all we need is the glow
let's click on the glow properties and
increase the or decrease the scale to
maybe something
eight and for the stretch and we'll go
with 1000 by 300 something like tuck and
hit okay let's drag and drop it right
over here just like that and let's
change color to a really nice red color
something like so now I'm gonna bring
down the brightness just a touch keep it
really subtle so maybe something like 55
looking pretty good let's duplicate this
by hitting ctrl D on the keyboard and
let's drag this point to the top and
let's change the color to a blue color
just to give that really nice cinematic
look to the scene so as you can see it
is looking really really nice
now what I'm going to do is let's create
a new adjustment layer and I want to
control the optical flavors a little bit
so what I'm going to do is I'm gonna
let's call this light and add a CC spot
like this alright and let's play around
with some of the properties so let's
change the form to 9:30 and this one to
my maybe 500 - 500 something like that
and let's increase the to 960 by 540 I
don't think I'm gonna leave it at 960 by
540 let's increase the height to around
100 and let's increase the cone angle a
touch just like so and now I'm gonna
increase the edge softness a lot just
like that maybe I'll increase the cone a
little bit more so as you can see we
have a little bit of control over the
optical fluid as you can see before and
after some increase this 100 and
increase this a little bit more maybe
something like that also only increase
the brightness a little bit maybe 65 or
something pretty nice and this one to 65
as well okay so this is looking very
very nice now let's go ahead and add
some particles to this some only use
this footage that I have right over here
just drag and drop it so now what I'm
going to do is let's go ahead and add a
right into this so that we can color our
particles so let's set this to something
like a really nice yellow orange color
and this one to orange as well and there
we have a really nice looking particle
maybe I'll make it a bit reddish kapha
orange okay so there we have it looking
very very nice and also one more thing
that I'm gonna add is some really nice
CC lens effect so now what I'm going to
do is before adding the CC lens effect
let's add some optical flares for our
text so let's create a new solid and
let's call this Opie for optical flares
Oh F actually for pileus let's set the
blending mode to screen and let's add
optical flares to this let's go into
options clear all and we just need this
streak that we have maybe I'll control
this length of it something like that we
need to play around the skill just so
that it fits our requirement maybe we
just want very very subtle streaks or
make it red or something like that and
then I can place it in the position that
I want on the place it's somewhere
around here
just like so
let's duplicate it by hitting control D
on the keyboard and let's make this blue
and then I'm gonna put it somewhere
around there just like that
now to make it look more realistic I'm
gonna add some flicker to the streak so
what I'm going to do is select it go
into flicker and set the speed to around
frame and increase the flicker amount to
50 and same with this one as well 20 and
50 so we have a little bit of flickering
for our optical flares just so that it
looks more realistic as you can see very
very nice now let's select all the
layers and hit ctrl shift C to pre
compose it and let's call this main
animation and let's actually go into the
main animation and add a little bit of
camera zoom animation to this or maybe
we can add it into the main section as
well so I'm just gonna leave it just
like that so there we have it now what
I'm going to do is let's go to 15 frames
and drag this calm just like that at 15
frames so now we have a why a black
space from 0 to 15 frame so now what we
can do is let's create a new adjustment
layer let's call this CC lens and add CC
lens to this alright and let's set the
size to somewhere around 170 all right
at the very beginning that is right over
here
create a keyframe go to maybe 3 second
or maybe let's go to 4 second actually
and let's set this to 230 or something
like that so now we have a simple
animation so let's say to you so you can
see the animation so let's go right over
here and maybe I'll tweak it a bit more
so we keep it somewhere around there so
I guess 140 should work pretty nice yup
I think that is looking very nice
and now what I'm going to do is let's
create a new adjustment layer again and
let's call this transform and add
transform to this and let's increase the
scale height really high to maybe some
around 300 or something like that yep
that should be it and create a keyframe
go back in time to maybe let's say one
second and let's set this to hundred Oh
hundred now we have something like this
which looks pretty lame at the moment so
let's go ahead and fix this up so let's
select the layer and hit u so we can see
the keyframe let's select the keyframes
hit f9 and also select the CC lens
effect so hit f9 and go into the graph
editor select this point and drag it
holding shift this one as well and now
we should have something like that but
it's not looking the way I wanted to
look so what I'm going to do is bring
this keyframe a bit closer so now we
have something like that as you can see
looking very nice and right over here
I'm gonna increase the CC lens effect a
bit more so I'm gonna keep it really
close and something like darkness oh I
guess 55 should work and let's see I
think it's a bit too much so let's go
with hundred or maybe something like
that yep I think this is looking much
better
okay let's a little keyframes go into
the graph editor and let's click on this
icon that we have okay
this little keyframes go into a graph
editor and let's tweak this keyframes as
well so I'm gonna crack this holding
shift now we have something like that
yep that is what I am going for so now
we have something like this which looks
very interesting maybe I think the CC
lens is a bit more intense on a steady
stream you something like 130 yep that
is looking very very nice now one thing
that I want to do is let's say go right
over here and let's go into optical
players that we have and let's create a
keyframe on the brightness of both the
optical flares go to zero and let's
increase the brightness 200 and this 200
is well so now we should have this
really subtle light animation from
bright to a break a bit dull light so we
have something like that see pretty -
maybe I'll increase it a bit more so
let's go and increase this really nice
and high use something like 250 select
this one and let's say this to 250 very
very intense and now we should have
something like that I think it's a bit
too much so I'll just leave it at the
default which was 220 oh no I'm just
gonna keep it at 100 and this one 200
okay so this is pretty subtle and nice
also to avoid any kind of colour
bandings on the optical flares I'm gonna
add some noise to this so let's add nice
very subtle maybe three percent or
something like that and just copy this
up hit control-c and paste it on the
second optical players
let's go into the comp in na'vi she said
it's a full so we can see it more
properly what's happening and this is
looking very very nice and not to make
it look more interesting I'm gonna add a
dust cam to this so let's drag and drop
it right over here let's place it in the
position that we want so I'm gonna place
it somewhere around there and let's set
the blending mode to screen and right
over here let's actually set this to you
there and crop this holding alt and
close bracket now we should have
something like that so as you can see
looking very very nice now I'm gonna
tweak it a little bit so let's add a
cuff to this let's make this a bit
darker just like that let's go into the
red Channel and increase the red channel
a bit go into a green Channel and bring
this down now you have this really nice
and intense look that we were going for
so let's preview this pretty quick and
as you can see it is looking very very
nice and cinematic now to add the final
touch I'm gonna create a new adjustment
layer put it on top let's call this CC
for color correction and let's do a
curves adjustment really quick
cause the touch
and I think the noise is pretty intense
so I can go into the main comp and let's
bring down the noise to 1 and this to 1
and now we have a really nice and
professional looking title animation so
that is a wrap for today guys I hope
