below hey guys what's up this is Nikhil
from dogmas calm and welcome to this
brand new After Effects tutorial today
we will be taking a quick overview of a
really amazing shaders pack for element
3d that is the Starfall shaders and by
the way currently there's a giveaway
going on on my channel going on on my
channel for this amazing shaders so make
sure to check out the video in the I
button or I also provide the link in the
description below so instead of doing a
simple and normal overview of the
shaders I thought that it could get a
bit boring you know just going over the
shaders and showing you guys how the
shaders look so instead of doing just a
quick overview we will be creating a
complete scene in element 3d using the
shaders and by the way it's been a very
very long time since I have created a
tutorial on element 3d so here we go so
without any further ado let's get
straight into the video and get started
pretty quick alright so we are going to
start from Adobe Illustrator by creating
some really cool shapes so I'm going to
do a really simple scene nothing complex
just to demonstrate the shader so you
know you can use the technique which I'm
about to show you guys and create some
really complex and amazing stuff so
let's start pretty quick so what I'm
going to do is select the rectangle tool
and start to create them shape some
shapes and start to create some shapes
and we don't need any stroke so I'm
going to set this to 0 and set the fill
to black you can set to any color that
you want doesn't really matters I will
start to create some random shapes just
like got some really basic cubical
shapes as you can see
something like that I'm doing it really
randomly but of course you can take your
time and create some really cool shapes
if you want to that you can just google
it some really nice sci-fi shapes you
know and create them up by using some
really cool stuff so something like that
should work good for us so after you're
done with are happy with the shapes you
can just select them all and hit ctrl G
to group them up put effect good warp
and select arc and I must set the arc to
dark of course and go to vertical
section make it make sure it's and
vertical you can also use it this way in
the horizontal manner but I'm going to
go with vertical and set this all the
way up to 100 and hit OK so there you
have a really cool shape now what I'm
going to do is go to object and then
just click on expand appearance so we
have the shape like so so now what we
can do is to select them right click and
transform and reflect it so you can
reflect it vertically reflect it
vertically and just copy this up so now
we have two shapes just hold shift and
drag this up just like that and then all
you need to do is select the shape and
just unite them just like that you can
also group them up doesn't really matter
so once we have the shape and by the way
the comp size is 3000 into into 3000
pixels cause we need to use a big comp
so that we don't get any you know any
kind of anti-aliasing and that kind of
issues so let's select a circle or the
lf2 and let's create an ellipse by
holding alt and shift just to see if our
circle is perfect you continue to any
color if you want and let's drag it
behind just like that
so as you can see the circle is not
really perfect so I'm going to do some
little bit of tweaking right just a
little bit just like that
let's see okay this is almost perfection
of course take your time and make it
look a bit more perfect okay this is
looking pretty good I'm happy with this
so let's hit ctrl s to save this
composition or save this project desktop
let's rename is to place life I element
you can name it to anything that you
want let's go with sci-fi halo K and
okay so let's minimize this for now
let's go into our effects and now what
I'm going to do is create a new
composition which is 3000 by 3000 pixels
as well let's rename this to mein kampf
and then seconds I hit OK Snivy now we
have a composition something like that
and let's create a new solid by hitting
ctrl Y on the keyboard let's rename is
relevant 3d so e3d doesn't really matter
which color it is and let's select the
layer and add element 3d to it also I'm
going to right click and add a new
camera as well or 55 millimeters camera
should work good and hit OK alright so
let's go into element 3d and the first
thing that we need to do is double click
and add in our sci-fi ki composition so
hit OK just drag it into the composition
and as you can see we have our shape
really cool and what I'm going to do is
right click or not right click basically
I'm going to do is select the layer go
to layer and auto trace this up right ok
so now we should have something like
that we can hide the layer we don't need
to see it go to element 3d effects and
controls go to custom leo's go to custom
text in mask and well it says part one
layer none let's set this to sci-fi AI
close this up go to seam setup and click
on extrude and now we should basically
have a shape which looks like this you
see really cool so let's turn on the
grid and show info let's turn on the co
that is ambient occlusion just to make
it look really cool maybe I'll just
decree the scale scale it down just to
maybe Ron let's make this 50% and we see
the environment we don't need to keep a
draft textures we can make it black no
need to see then viola environment
actually so we have a simple shape it
looks something like that let's make it
look really really cool so the first
thing that I'm going to do is we don't
need any bevels here so I said this to
zero go into the bevel one and extrude
this up something like let's go with
five so now we have something like that
extruded upon it just goes maybe only
though the scale of one I guess okay
let's go
five okay this is looking pretty good so
what I can do is hold alt and just drag
this up to create one more copy and I
will scale it down a bit just like that
displays it somewhere around there let's
add one more copy scale it down just a
bit
somewhere around there and place it
choose right oh you're so creating kind
of all you know cool look to it maybe
one more and scale it down a bit
and this time I'm going to bevel this up
really high also let's see if we can
extrude it yup
so let's go with 50 I think that would
be a bit too much but this would look
really really good okay so I'm going
with a rebase sake a kind of an you know
look to it but you can make it as
complex as you want maybe you'll also
rotate this up just to give it a bit
more you know complexity look something
like that
this one something like this so we have
a little bit of randomness to it
something like that okay looks good so
let's go and now start using a shader
that is the softball Pro shaders so I'm
going to start with my favorite one that
is the middle of course so I can just
drag and drop it and there we have a
really cool texture and the best part
about this textures or the shaders are
they are really really hyper realistic
maybe that hyper-realistic but really
good and realistic than the normal
shaders that we get building in a layman
3d so you can play around with there are
numbers of different shaders as you can
see then just drop it up to create a
really cool look maybe something like
that and maybe something like this looks
really really good now this shade is a
bit heavy cause they're really nice and
realistic so it can make your
composition a bit heavy as well to make
sure you you know you use it according
to your system if you have a really
average PC then I'll suggest you you
know don't turn on the AO just you know
keep it regular just like that so we
have number of different stuff we have
wood so you can also use that as well if
you want to create
different kind of texture you know
something really really cool this looks
really good actually
as you can see maybe a word bond bond
would I guess it's kind of a texture you
know really cool stuff but for our scene
I can also go with some Ricky look that
there is the wall shadow you can see
looks really really cool also we have
some really nice glass stigmata now this
is one of my favorite shader the plastic
category because they have some really
nice textures on it so he can just use
them you know something like that maybe
paper you can also use this paper one to
create a different look we have some
organic ones to create a different a
really cool look maybe this one should
look good okay this looks super cool
actually kind of a transparent look
cross transparent translucent shaders I
guess that's what they called really
really cool actually so there are number
of different shaders which you can try
on one of my favorite is the metal
shaders they have some really nice
variety of shaders we can use the rough
one
do it a really nice and rough look
something like that and really randomly
I'm using the shaders but as you can see
this look really really good also maybe
a ground if you have any ground you can
also use those shaders as well but a
scene doesn't have any ground so I'm not
going to go with that you also have
different shaders for the clock so if
you have any cloth in your scene you can
use that as well and some abstract
shaders else as well so maybe I'll just
drag it to create some really cool and
abstract look really nice and cool
looking shaders right over you so I'm
thinking of making the scene a bit more
complex so what we can do is for all
then just create one more copy
we select this one and create one more
copy we set this to one just bring this
out just like tack in a different color
just so that we can see it more properly
in point free something like that let's
place it something like that looks
pretty good
now let's I'm going to go into metal or
we also have some organic
I think I showed you guys so what I'm
going to do is let's go and select some
really cool looking metals maybe this
one oh yeah Tata is looking pretty sexy
let's see let's drag it and see this one
that's a bit too much for the scene
maybe I'll go and use some plastic
shaders as well so this is one of my
favourite ones they they look really
really cool let's use some from the
metal maybe this one let's try on no not
not good for this scene now go with this
one okay
this is looking pretty okay alright so
let's look for now let's go with maybe
this one right over here something like
that let's try on some different shaders
you know to come up with a really cool
look and also one more thing that I'm
going to do is select the shapes and
turn the reflection mode to mirrored
surface so we have a really nice of
flexions
set all of them to middle surface so you
have some really cool reflections going
on okay this is looking pretty cool we
will change the texture of this shape
some go ahead see let's go this one okay
this is looking actually pretty good
let's try this one
yeah I think I'm happy with this let it
okay so it may take a few seconds to
load up cause the texture is all the
shade is a bit heavy on the comp let's
turn on the depth of field of the scene
for now and let's position our camera
the way we want something to zoom a bit
I rotate it and said it's something like
that maybe I don't need the mirrored
surface for this texture this shape so
now set this to let's go with an
environment maybe and it okay okay this
is looking pretty good right off the bat
and also will seem set up set this to
default on it okay no it's not looking
pretty good actually
maybe I'll go with environment I guess
oh I think that blue is not looking that
good maybe let's go with a different one
okay something like that should look
good maybe your maybe your glossy metal
okay perfect
that looks pretty good to me really
really good now this is a really basic
scene you can you know use this
technique to create some really nice and
advanced looking stuff as well maybe
what I can do is let's select this one
and set the extrusion up a bit so maybe
let's go with 50 that's gonna make the
comp a lot heavy so make sure you're
working according your system
requirements so keep it in mind that
this compositions can get a bit heavy
you know so just just let's see yup that
is a bit too small I guess let's make
this a bit bigger something like that I
guess okay let's select this one and
scale this up a bit something just like
God and bring this a bit on the top this
one bring it on top as well
okay this one's like this both actually
and this one bring this on the top I'll
set the reflective mode to default
select this one and print this update on
the top just like that and hit okay
let's see yup perfect let's just zoom
out a bit and change the position we
want something like that should look
good and also on the turn on the
anti-aliasing so we get a really nice
edges as you can see really nice and
clean looking edges let's set this to
half okay so this is looking actually
pretty cool so let's add some ambient
occlusion you can use the default one
but I like to go with retraced it will
make a composition a bit heavy but it
will give some really nice and realistic
results also let's turn on the depth of
P pretty quick so let's @uu okay I guess
and turn it on
and what we can do is go into element 3d
go into depth of field and change it
from pixel blur to focus indicator so we
can set up our depth of field easily
let's increase this and let's bring this
a bit closer maybe one three zero zero a
bit more
okay something like that let's zoom in a
bit in the scene okay that is that is
okay for me this rotated fit nothing
that was in Riyadh yup this is pretty
good let's bring this a bit close the
focal distance okay and then once you're
happy with the position of the focal
distance you can just set this to
preview glow oh not preview blur the
pixel below and then we can display
around with the aperture increase it and
also the blur amount so bit heavy comes
it may take a bit long to render as well
and yep this is actually looking pretty
good let's bring this a bit closer a bit
more okay this is looking really nice so
as you can see really simple and easy to
create some really cool scene in it and
one more thing I'm thinking to do is if
I go into element 3d create a tube bring
this right over here and just rotate it
to you know
smegal rotation to launch is rotated
holding shift just like that okay let's
go down the size a bit radius then like
this is going to either height you don't
need any chapel you inside this is 0-3
the cap segments a bit don't need the
cap segment the height segments a bit
and let's increase the radius a bit just
like that and I don't add an if abstract
effect maybe an illumination on it and
that would look really really cool and
it okay let's see what we have okay this
is looking really cool it also done on
the globe so that's going to the globe
and on this on
this is not looking that good let's
bring this but bring the intensity down
to maybe point five a point point four
depending on what kind of look you're
going for that would look really cool
also we can go in the scene set up and
now we can go in turn on the set this to
environment maybe not the environment
maybe I'll go to middle surface okay set
this to middle surface as well yep that
is good giving some really nice
reflections that's it okay let's see
what we have okay so this is looking
pretty cool I think there's orange or
brownish colleges looking pretty odd so
let's replace this with a really nice
metal via silicon nah not looking that
good let's go into metals and we have
some wide variety of metals that you can
choose from so let's select maybe this
one oh let's put it up right over here
now
nope maybe I can just go into plastics
maybe you know and like a black plastic
something like that
this one oh no this one maybe yup this
is actually looking pretty good now and
I'm happy with it
or what else I can do
let's create a new adjustment layer and
add some CC - it's a little mean this is
CC for color correction I had some
curves adjustment very quick it makes me
seem pop out a lot just a bit maybe
something like that
okay what more let's create a new solid
let's add BG for background hit okay and
add a four color gradient
let's make this a darker black and this
one to a darker blue that goes with the
scene probably something like that make
this block okay maybe a blue one made a
bit lighter something like that this one
increase the blend a bit and also the
jitter something like that and let's
make this kind of a talk light W
something like this
all right the seniors started it look
really cool but I didn't really spend
much time on it you can obviously give
it a more time and make it look really
really interesting and cool so anyways I
