keep YouTube subscribers engaged we're
gonna talk about that in this video
hey what's up Sean here Benji and this
is video influencers helping you crush
it with YouTube and online video and
today we're talking about an answer to a
question that we got recently how do you
keep YouTube subscribers engaged with
your content we're gonna hit hit this
rapid-fire and the number one and really
the most painful that you always beat me
up on yeah yeah Sean yeah is number one
you have to post consistently yes got a
post consistently because this is a
thing at the end of the day if they're
not watching your video they're gonna
watch someone else's video so you always
want to put something in front of them
that's why daily vlogs are so powerful
even more powerful than you would think
a daily vlog might not have the
production level the quality that
informative even the entertainment value
that maybe one of Sean's epic videos has
but it's there it's in the subscription
box and believe it or not people still
go there subscription box or check their
email for the notification and whatever
videos there they're gonna watch it
especially if they really like you
absolutely and you know when it comes to
posting consistently the best practice
that youtubers do is they also post on
the calendar they say new videos Monday
Wednesday yeah yeah it's like a show if
you're the knife Knolls new vlogs Monday
through Friday yeah they take the
weekends off new videos every Monday so
something about consistency but even and
here's my defense cuz you you hit me up
yard you're like John what are you doing
well I've been doing YouTube now for a
little while but I've had a full-time
job
yeah even more than a full-time in a lot
of other areas so you got to go easy on
yourself yeah some people are at
different stages of your life so it's
consistent as possible to us and do
something that's sustainable but your
consistency is the key to keeping
someone engaged it's kind of like you
know you'd be really frustrated as the
knife austin knoll told me one time he's
like hey if the walking dead was like
new new
episodes every Sunday and then it they
stopped posting you'd get not only mad
but should forget about it you watch a
different show yeah suppose consistently
number to engage with your audience and
build community I know it's like two
different things but it's really one in
the same build superfans build people
that love you and the way you do it is
showing them love back they're showing
you love by watching your videos
commenting liking following you on
Instagram following you on Twitter
make sure you acknowledge that the one
thing I know about Judy and this is a
one thing people don't realize about how
Judy got to where she's at in the
beginning more so than now just because
she can't but she replied to every
single comment she was talking on her
Twitter like crazy I mean she was just
always on in fact at night after she's
done editing whatever like three hours
sometimes it's doing that obviously now
she's got over I think three million
subscribers combined on all her channels
and she's got baby she's married you
know we're dealing with life but even
with that being said she still makes
sure to give time to her audience and
give love and she built a community she
doesn't like calling them fans and just
viewers for her and she you know gain
their trust gain their respect and
ultimately engage them and got him
connected so that no matter what she did
they're always wanting to watch what she
was putting out so there you go I love
that and what you do or in addition to
that is once with your community ask
them questions what kind of video did
you want to see I try to do the owlet I
know the reason we're shooting this
video yeah because we asked a question
so how do you keep people engaged oh I'm
not sure what kind of videos they want
to see asked know maybe try on different
platforms hit your Instagram up ask what
do you want to see on YouTube what are
you interested in ask on Twitter and do
whatever you can to find out what your
community wants and then create videos
around that number three always grow and
evolve your content mm-hmm it's just a
truth about life I mean I love this I
think about the very first video Judy
put up yes does not look like the way
videos look today
no and honestly the way that that very
first video if it still looked the same
was the same it wouldn't be having the
success that it has today now you always
got to start wherever you're at do your
very best with where you're at but
always seek to level up and grow and
evolve your content now we do hit
plateaus we hit we hit stale things even
in the vlogs I've seen them grow and
progress yeah I love the way that you
guys do your end caps now and have fun
your music and funny scenes you guys are
always tweaking it you're changing it
you're going to events you're doing
things
buying ways to grow and evolve your
content to always bring it up to another
level because the question is how do you
keep people engaged
if you hit a consistently bad seasons of
The Walking Dead no you drop off yeah
but if the writers keep coming back and
they keep hitting it with fresh
creativity fresh content you're like oh
man this one's good and you get even
more engaged well Sean all that's good
and all but how do you actually do that
how do you come up with new ideas how do
you come up with engaging content for
your audience and to you know realize
what it is they want to watch well a few
ideas to come up if you hit the plateau
okay you hit a set and I'd love to get
your thoughts on this no but I wrote
down a few hours maybe you need to rest
maybe you need to read maybe you need to
get refreshed maybe you need to reflect
a little bit yeah where have I been to
really take some time away and maybe
need to do some research yeah you know
maybe go through a season of watching
and searching for more YouTube content
for aspiration listen to some music for
inspiration get outside of your field
get outside of your world and go you
know watch some different movies or go
to a library but get into an environment
because that what is that is that's
creative input if you're at a plateau
how do you keep them engaged you're
trying to be fresh then you need to be
fresh need to be resonantly yep yep what
do you think about that well I think all
those are great tips and I think one
thing I would add to it too is sometimes
for some people letting go okay you know
sometimes the content you're putting out
there just isn't
working now I say to people things
aren't overnight always on YouTube right
sometimes it takes two or three years
but say there's two to three years go by
there's nothing wrong there's no rules
against you just changing right and
letting go of something it doesn't mean
you absolutely have to let go of it
completely just like trying something
new right
maybe the reason the content isn't being
viewed is because it's stale in your
spirit maybe you're not passionate about
it anymore one of the things I respect
about Judy and you know I know I'm
biased because she's my wife but judy
has grown from being a beauty guru which
she hates that term too but she's a
beauty youtuber went to daily vlogging
and now she's doing mommy vlogs
okay she's grown you know and the funny
thing is she's such a hustler and she's
such a hard worker she still continues
to put videos on all three but what she
hasn't done was say no I just want to do
beauty and that's it in fact it's been
to her benefit that she's gone to these
other platforms because again back to
what you're saying she's growing with
her audience she's you know engaging
with what's relevant to them because
that's also what's relevant to her so
don't be afraid to change and ultimately
let go I love it and my last thought on
how to grow and involve your content is
to number one get to a live event know
you know you know after you go to
something like VidCon or the business
world a business seminar or even
something just like South by Southwest
something that's gonna like stir your
creativity yeah or you're like I don't
have any money I can't go to that stuff
a local meet up a local gathering you
get fresh ideas you get shaken up a
little bit but you also get to network
yeah and that's gonna lead to simply
meaning in networking is a weird term I
just means relationships people you
might collaborate with that kind of
happens at live events you know
and then lastly consider taking an
online course yeah you know when you we
invest of course in movies we invest in
our clothes we invest in video games we
spend our money on all this different
stuff we should invest in our learning
in our creativity and so you can take a
personal development course you can
contents have been on marketing
something that is gonna help you grow
because when you personally grow your
channel is gonna grow it's gonna evolve
and the consequence is that your
subscribers are gonna stay engaged and
if you really don't you have enough
money for that by a book we've got a
