What is an ISO 9001 Management System Video Lecture

talking about why would we bother having
a quality management system and what's
this iso 9001 thing all about stay tuned

so welcome back to best practice TV in
this episode we're talking about Mison
9001 why would we bother having this
quality management system thing and I
think what's really important here is to
let's take a look at what it's like to
work with an organization if they're one
of your suppliers
who's got ISO 9001 the first point I
want to make is it's all about system
improvement and it's all about self
evaluation so if one of your suppliers
has a quality management system in place
you know what they're doing they're self
improving they've got some great things
in place that are helping them do
internal audits manage them managing
their processes looking at their risks
in the context of you who's their
customer so if you've got a quality
management system and you're watching
this video then great you can have a
think about some of these points but if
you're thinking about some of your
suppliers who have got a quality
management system hopefully these are
some of the things that they're
embracing because they're part of that
self evaluation cycle definitely got a
complaint management system they're
thinking ahead about in particularly
with the new standard some of the risks
and some of the problems that going to
occur with the services that they've got
in their organization and they're trying
over time to improve themselves so they
can prevent those things happening so
they've definitely got self-improvement
happening they're recording a dashboard
of statistics there's a part of the
standard that talks about monitoring and
measurement which is my most exciting
part about best practice and it's sort
of this tick thing that's all over best
practice is it's about that performance
improvement over time which is really
really exciting so what you're going to
see is you're going to see the
measurement of some of those statistics
and the dashboards and it doesn't always
mean that they're perfect but you're
definitely going to be seeing some
improvement over time which is really
really exciting one of the other things
that you're going to see with an
organization that's got a quality
management system or iso 9001 in place
is this opportunity to look at all of
their resources and do some planning
they'll be setting objectives and
targets they'll be doing some planning
and part of that planning will be the
management of people people need
training people need guidance people
need direction and obviously a lot of
people are passionate about the
organizations that they were
for and they going to improve over time
so the quality management system is
going to wrap all of that up into a neat
little bundle and be like a business
plan if you like I'm very passionate
about the standards and I like people to
look in there and see how they can use
them to improve their organizations so
in the absence of a business plan and
its really surprising how many
organizations don't have one you can use
a quality management system sort of plan
what your customers want organize your
resources and then track your
performance which is really really
exciting so we're going to see that
happening on a regular basis the last
thing you're going to be seeing with an
organization with the quality management
system is they're going to be improving
every day so they're undertaking and
implementing their self evaluation cycle
they're looking at their critical
processes they're looking at their
successes they're talking to their
customers and they're hopefully bringing
that all back and analyzing and
improving and doing little projects to
improve themselves over time so that's
one of the things we encourage your best
practices for you guys to think about
how you can improve every day and that's
