hello everyone and welcome to my writing
a script tutorial this tutorial is gonna
be short and it's gonna be about the
formatting of a script so it's not about
how to write a script but how do I write
a script in the correct format people in
the past send me scripts that were not
in the right format and it was just
impossible for me to read them or
understand what's going on so I thought
I'll make a short video showing the
correct format for the script writing
since the movie I'm working on is
without a dialogue there isn't actually
a script so for that video I'm going to
use the script I wrote for my first
animated short film food-for-thought the
first line of every scene would consist
of two parts the first one is interior
or exterior to let us know if we're
inside the room or outside a room and
then a few words describing the scene
large aquarium tank interior because
this scene takes place in the New York
Aquarium then we're gonna have a few
lines describing what's going on in the
scene a fish is being dropped in the
tank he's in shock blah blah blah this
is all the stuff that's going on before
there's any dialogue now the dialogue
lines are centered and indented so they
don't start from the left side of the
page their son in the middle the names
of the characters will always be with
capital letters and the lines they're
saying will be underneath their name so
here we have Joe capital letters saying
hey if you want to write a description
of the way he says it or what he does
while he's saying it
use parentheses he swims towards grumpy
quickly while grumpy sells for a normal
facial expression then he keeps talking
how do we get out of here grumpy answers
oh they're never gonna let me leave I'm
the main attraction let's just go over
the basics one more time first line of a
scene would be interior than a
description of the scene an action
description would be before the dialogue
names with capital letters
action descriptions for the characters
while they talk would be in parentheses
follow these rules and you can't really
go wrong hope this video helped and
