Titles and Text in iMovie 10.0.1 | Tutorial 14 Video Lecture | iMovie Mac: Basics to Advanced - Professional Skills

hello agent gents row here and welcome
to neuron films today are going to be
covering titles in iMovie 10 point oh
the new version of iMovie so let me open
up iMovie here and last episode or
tutorial we covered transitions so this
tutorial can be covering titles be sure
to check out my previous tutorial and
here we are this is the transition that
we used last video and I'm gonna play it
for you there we go
very simple now let's begin with titles
now I just like the transitions you'll
be able to simply if you drag over them
you'll see the low animation of how they
appear and disappear and how they affect
your clip and where they change and
here's okay these are all very similar
and they're where they want them in
certain places the one thing I wish that
you could customize in iMovie is you
should be able to actually just like
drag one of these in and then adjust
where you want it on the clipping to be
exact but sadly there is no feature like
that just yet but I'm sure there's one
to come later on in the future where you
can actually add maybe double click on
the screen and add a text right in there
wherever you want it and edit it
yourself I think that would be a very
nice feature and it would be really
beneficial and easier to use but yeah we
have these very simple similar titles
here that you'll be able to actually use
and there's several different kinds that
got like clouds and different animation
ones and like the Star Wars looking one
right here which is a problem that's
that's what it reminds me of at least
the Star Wars look all right you can use
any of these transitions they're all
very simple to use and the way you want
to use them is you can simply double
click on it and it will appear anywhere
on your project you can drag and drop it
wherever you want it or you can actually
just simply drag and drop place it in as
it as use it almost like a transition
where it goes straight to a title oh and
then it goes to a next clip like this
I'm going to remove this transition for
example and now place it right in here
and right in between these two Clips
make it a little bit shorter and now we
have like a little transition at that
title the text transition into the next
clip now most of time to title
transition you probably have it right in
Center so I'm going to for example I'm
going to delete that one I'm going to
put get this expanded Center one there
now we have a title transition right in
the center but another common way is you
have it right at the top here and it
will appear right on your clip when
you're actually editing the film and
it'll be right on your clip right like
like so now let's say you want to edit
the track the edit the text on here you
can simply double click it and it will
open up your adjustments menu into the
titles actually and now you can edit
what you want it to say hey and the sad
thing is I don't know if this is a bug
or if it's just iMovie is not letting
you do this
none of these functions up here are
available for this for this in
particular for most of these actually
titles and texts so you can't really
change what font you want it to be what
like all these features up here they're
all blanked out like as if it's not I
can't use them so it's either my iMovie
messed up or it's just there's a bug at
the moment currently but yeah you can
get either double click on that and have
it pop up like so which is the easiest
way or if you don't have it up at all
you can just click select the text go to
adjustments and will pop up as that T
over here and you'll have your text that
you can edit now like I said all these
here most of these here you won't be
able to edit like here's your new one I
just dragged in it's a really cool you
can double click it to change it like
what do you want it to say but you can't
edit the what kind of font the size of
it the boldness if you wanted italic or
the color you can't change that most of
them like I said now the only one I
found that you can actually do that you
can actually do that to some of these
just a few of them not very many but the
one I most time uses is centered here
you can drag it drag it in double click
it and now you have the option to the
fonts you have the option to the text
the size where you want it on the screen
the boldness and the italic and the like
the outline of the Aesir is the outline
of the text and the color as well so
that's my most common one that I use now
and I edit it by actually change it
where I want to on screen sometimes by
simply adding extra spaces like I'd say
one at the top where I want to all the
way at the bottom and I just place it
down or split up the text but honestly
you shouldn't have to do that um that's
why I think a feature like where you
select the clip and you double-click on
the screen the screen you should be able
to add a text right in here by simply
double-clicking on screen which i think
would be a really cool feature if imovie
included that or Apple decided to enter
that in but other than that there's the
that's in the simple text that simple
drag-and-drop you could drag and drop
just be able to simply put it in here
and some of them actually do look pretty
awesome just like it's guy giving it
gives you this little area here and you
can actually just simply double click oh
yeah that's another way you can actually
add the edit text is let's say you have
the text you have the job you just now
dragged in your title here and now you
can actually go and you can move this
out of the way and you can double click
on the video here just like I think it
should be available to you just like you
double click anywhere on the screen and
be able to add the text but you can
double click on the screen here and then
edit the text Ramon and there we are
there's my name and you can actually
play the text and description we can
actually just delete that dynamic zoom
or get rid get rid of that and then here
we are we have our title text in the
video which looks pretty awesome
I do recommend use it it's very common
be used to further explain instructions
or a title for your project or movie
