Maps and Backgrounds in iMovie 10.0.1 | Tutorial 24 Video Lecture | iMovie Mac: Basics to Advanced - Professional Skills

hello ladies and gents row here and
welcome to normal films instead of Emma
continuing our iMovie tutorials and then
this tutorial in particular we're gonna
actually cover something I said we were
going to cover later on which it is kind
of later on in our iMovie tutorials
we've covered a lot and I'm gonna be
covering maps and backgrounds and you
guys we've covered so much like this is
this project I don't know I had like two
clips in it now we've got like only
almost like an example of every tutorial
we have been here I've got the
green-screen we got the background image
and image and it's a picture-in-picture
show so be sure to check out previous
tutorials and if you are just joining us
you may and you just now download the
new version of iMovie and you're really
not sure what's going on here and just
in case I'm gonna show you guys that
this is the original like if you go to
window up here you go down to the
original layout is what I'm trying to
say is that right here this this is
gonna be I'm gonna revert to original
layout and you'll notice that when you
first start it off you're gonna be your
project is going to look something like
this
you have your events up here and then
your project down here which is how
Final Cut Pro has it set up which I
should probably be using it this way but
you know I did I'm I just like the old
way that it looks so I'm actually gonna
go back and this is the way I changed
mine I went to revert I let you swap
project an event now we have it back to
like normal how we actually actually
have the old version of iMovie now I'm
gonna go to my event in the rear we're
back here and I'm actually going to
minimize this and I'm gonna click here
go here and clip make this a lot smaller
as well actually I'm gonna leave it five
seconds is where I had it I believe it
was I thought that was right then so
let's just leave it right there and
there we are now we're this is how my
layout looks and I just like it because
it is the old version and it's easier to
stay with the older version and getting
used to just something completely new
even though there are a lot of still
manger changes in the new version either
iMovie but now that I got that away
let's get straight into maps and
backgrounds um as you can see you have
these maps
is what they're called and then you have
these backgrounds here these are mainly
used like let's say you were doing a
green screen effect and you wanted to
put your face like you like here instead
of that image that I have back there
replace this image here basically with
this and then you'll have me back behind
like as if I'm doing a vlog in the in
the water or you could do it behind
these curtains and something like this
maybe and or something like this and it
just really depends on what you prefer
but now this is that simple it's just
simple drag and drop and there you have
it or you can click on it and hit that
little plus sign that will pop up and
will up here but now you have it in your
project and you can actually extend it
and make it as long as you want it and
it'll keep repeating that animation of
the background as if the water was
moving and the light was moving through
it but okay that's the backgrounds and
it's very simple it's sometimes you want
to use your own background you can go to
internet and search for awesome
backgrounds animated backgrounds and you
can get better ones than just these
plain ones now that we got that the
background is out of the way let's get
straight into the recom the maps
honestly personally this is like I'm
telling you guys the truth I've never
used this because I don't really I
haven't really traveled the world or
anything because I think this would be
good if you were like traveling the
world and you were making like a vlog of
some store like I make an intro of you
like is zooming in like right here not
where is it of like you zoom in and like
zooming in like that it shows like where
you're at currently and you're doing a
vlog right there so I'm not simply just
like drag and drop one of this is or
just double click and move it in or drag
and drop you can use this bright one
here this green San Francisco drag it in
you know as soon as you put in your
project it's like really you're like
wait what if I'm not in San Frisco how'd
I change that and you can make it longer
like how long you want the transition to
be like you see it's a lot slower or
make it a lot faster by making a small
angle a lot faster which is what's the
prefer does make it fast and that way
they seem that way you go straight into
the video but okay you slept a little
you clip that you just put in and you
can go to adjustments you'll bring up
this entire new tab it's called if I can
get the name of it to pop up but it's
like map settings basically and you can
see the Brout here this is San Francisco
what is currently selected now if we go
to let's go
- Wow there's just there's just a lot of
places you can select so let's just keep
it San Francisco and we're gonna go to
San and see if this pops up but you can
actually search for a city or country
but let's just go California San Diego
California USA you guys are just a
little difference there maybe I should
do something bigger let's go all the way
to Salzburg Austria okay there we go
Nick actually changes the theme of it I
can do what the blue water theme normal
theme you can call it style because
that's what it's called here but I'm
gonna keep it green it's just brighter
and greener and or not here we are I
just went from San Francisco to Salzburg
I believe it is you can you play it
you'll see actually goes and you can
actually tell how this could be useful
when you're actually doing like you're
doing a trip or a field trip and you're
traveling and you just want to show
people where you're at so that's how
it's like a transition you can use it as
or you can use as just to define or show
where you are to that your audience or
than that that's it of maps and
backgrounds I hope you guys learned
