Multiple Picture in Pictures in iMovie 10.1.1 | Tutorial 81 Video Lecture | iMovie Mac: Basics to Advanced - Professional Skills

hello's and gents Roker and welcome to
them on phones today we're going to
continue our iMovie ten point one point
one tutorials and this tutorial will
show you guys how to do multiple picture
and picture effects in iMovie let's go
ahead and open up by movie and I have a
project here named tutorial and I have a
12 second clip here already in my actual
imported media I'm gonna go ahead and
drag this thread into Y project and now
to create the picture-in-picture
the first picture in picture at least
imma grab let's just do five seconds of
this footage and I'm a drag it straight
on top now iMovie only allows you to do
two picture in pictures as you notice
because I can't drag another footage up
top it will only let me put it up here
or the audio down here I just say I can
set it by side but I can't make another
picture and picture so the way you want
to do this picture in pictures first
move your playhead right over the two
Clips and go up here to the all the way
to the left where it says video overlay
settings top left and then instead of
cutaway we're going to do picture and
picture and now you'll notice we have
this other clip inside our actual
original footage so I'm going to place
this right here on the top left-hand
corner just like this and I'm actually
going to drag it over to the left-hand
side here
right and we do not want that audio and
in the clip so for tutorial purposes and
you notice now we have both of those
playing at the same time
picture-in-picture selecting this I can
actually go back to the editing options
of picture and picture and move this
around as well well you can move it
wherever you please but I'm going to put
it right here on the top left now I'm
going to export this project because in
order to actually apply this we have to
export it and then I'm going to do the
loast
720 next and I'm going to save it to my
desktop
name it tutorial save and it should go
pretty quickly right here top right
you'll notice that it's exporting now
once it's done exporting you'll notice
that you'll have the project right on
your desktop I'm going ahead and go back
into iMovie and I'm going to import that
newly exported picture and picture
footage straight into mine too
Oriol project here just like that by
dragging dropping it now you notice we
have this one single clip with the
actual picture in picture instead of
just these two clips now how can we move
both of these clips and delete you can
drag our new leap newly created a clip
with the picture in picture and now I
can go ahead and grab our second picture
in picture I've said that word several
times and I'm going to lower the volume
again and go up here to the overlay
settings again top left and cutaway
splits not not split-screen I'm going to
a picture in picture I'm going to put on
the far right hand side now you'll
notice that we have two picture and
pictures within this actual project plan
on the left the right and our main
footage as well and that's the basics of
how to do a picture to picture and
pictures within iMovie if you're trying
to avoid the step of having to
constantly export and create another
picture and picture in or do this you
can actually purchase Final Cut Pro
which is available in the App Store and
you can use that which allows you to
have as many picture and pictures as you
want within the actual project and that
