affinity photo tutorial and in this
tutorial we will be going over how to
non-destructive burn and dodge
so what burning and dodging is is a
technique used by photographers to let
in a dark in certain areas of the image
when you do this this can destroy your
original image and you can't go back and
just change it so a easy way to do this
without altering anything would be to
create a new pixel layer over your
background pixel layer and then come up
to edit and fill and we can go to custom
color and you can come up to the panel
up here and select grayness and come
down to about exactly 50 and hit apply
then all you have to do is come up to
the blend mode and select overlay and
you have a way to non-destructively
dodge and blend so what you can do is
make sure that this layer is above your
background layer and come over to the
burn and dodge tool and they're all
they're both under this panel right here
along with the sponge sponge a brush
tool so you can go in and make your
edits and it won't alter your original
image and you can even up the brush size
a little bit when you go in
and as you can see it added some darken
light in certain areas and that is how
you non-destructively dodge and burn so
