| 1. What is the GMAT exam? |  |
The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a standardized exam widely used as a criterion for admission into graduate business programs, such as MBA (Master of Business Administration) programs. It assesses analytical writing, integrated reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and verbal reasoning skills of candidates.
| 2. How long is the GMAT exam? | |
The GMAT exam has a total duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes. This includes the time for the four sections: Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) - 30 minutes, Integrated Reasoning (IR) - 30 minutes, Quantitative Reasoning - 62 minutes, and Verbal Reasoning - 65 minutes. Additionally, there are optional breaks throughout the exam.
| 3. Can I retake the GMAT exam? | |
Yes, you can retake the GMAT exam. However, there are certain limitations. You can take the GMAT exam once every 16 calendar days, but no more than five times in a rolling 12-month period. The scores from all your GMAT attempts within the past five years will be visible to the schools you send your scores to.
| 4. How is the GMAT exam scored? | |
The GMAT exam is scored on a scale of 200 to 800. The Quantitative Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning sections are scored between 0 and 60, while the Integrated Reasoning section is scored between 1 and 8. The Analytical Writing Assessment section is scored on a scale of 0 to 6 in half-point increments. The final score is a combination of the scores from these four sections.
| 5. Can I cancel my GMAT scores? | |
Yes, you have the option to cancel your GMAT scores. However, it is important to note that canceled scores cannot be reinstated or reported to schools. You can choose to cancel your scores immediately after completing the exam or within 72 hours after the exam. It is advisable to carefully consider the decision to cancel scores, as some schools may require you to report all GMAT scores from the past five years.
