1. What are permutations and how are they different from combinations?

2. How do you calculate the number of permutations of a set of items?
Ans.To calculate the number of permutations of a set of n items, you use the formula n!. For example, for 3 items (A, B, C), the number of permutations is 3! = 3 × 2 × 1 = 6.
3. In how many ways can you arrange the letters of the word "APPLE"?
Ans.The word "APPLE" has 5 letters where 'P' is repeated twice. The number of distinct arrangements is calculated using the formula: 5! / 2! = 120 / 2 = 60.
4. What is the difference between independent and dependent events in probability?
Ans.Independent events are those where the outcome of one event does not affect the outcome of another (e.g., flipping a coin and rolling a die). Dependent events are those where the outcome of one event influences the outcome of another (e.g., drawing cards from a deck without replacement).
5. How do you calculate the probability of an event occurring?
Ans.The probability of an event occurring is calculated using the formula: P(A) = Number of favorable outcomes / Total number of possible outcomes. For example, the probability of rolling a 3 on a six-sided die is 1/6, as there is 1 favorable outcome and 6 possible outcomes.
