life since women bear children and nurse
infants it is assumed that they are
solely responsible for child care and
looking after the family women who do

men they are neither given any salary
nor in credit for their work all these
days when we boast of the lead in
technical and other scientific fields
women across the length and breadth of
the world have based and are still
facing discrimination in various walks
of life like education health occupation
etc though it may vary from urban to
village women history has witnessed many
individual and collective fights arms
against these injustices these troubles
are part of wider the mers movement
which aims at securing emancipation of
women
and equal right to them the women's
movement in India is a rich and vibrant
movement which has taken different forms
in different parts of the country these
movements employed different strategies
to spread their message and to create
awareness
these include campaigning conducting
awareness programs staging protests and
demonstrating solidarity one of the most
forceful strategies adopted by women's
organization is campaigning to fight
discrimination and violence against
women these campaigns take up several
issues pertaining to women like sexual
harassment physical and mental
harassment demanding dowry etc some of
these campaigns have even left a passing
of several laws for the benefit of women
as a culmination of such campaigns in
1997 the Supreme Court formulated to
protect women against sexual harassment
at the workplace and within educational
institutions below passed in 2006

face domestic violence another important
strategy adopted by women's movement is
raising public awareness on women's
rights issues women organizations
organized street plays forms and public
meetings to spread their message the
women's movement
