the most important question is how can
waste water be utilized for the needs of
life forms now what do the life forms
need life forms need clean water and
what do we have we have waste water so
this is what we have like we have in the
sense this is something which which is
which keeps on forming and what we want
we want clean water now how can we
convert waste water into clean water so
that is what we will see under sewage
treatments in sewage treatment we will
see that how do we remove the
undesirable substances from the
wastewater so before I talk about sewage
treatment let's start with sewage what
does the word sewage means so it is
basically wastewater which needs to be
removed from a community for healthy
living now wastewater is a product from
each and every house in a society so in
in your community from every house you
will get a lot of sewage so this image
is primarily a liquid based it is not
solid waste the solid wastes are all
thrown into the dust bins so when we
talk about sewage we talked about the
liquid waste which comes out of the
sinks present inside the house or which
comes out of the toilets inside the
house so from every house we get
considerable amount of sewage now this
sewage from individual houses in the
community needs to be removed from that
area to ensure healthy living because if
you start accumulating that wastewater
that dirty water so it is going to cause
it is will do spoil the environment of
the area it can cause a lot of diseases
so we will look at all those aspects a
little later so to start with we all I
want to say is sewage is nothing but it
is wastewater which contains undesirable
substances but it is a liquid waste so
primarily it
to contain it should be liquid in nature
in fact you would have seen that when
you throw something in your wash basin
or maybe throw something in the sink so
very big particles enemies do not pass
through the sink it immediately blocks
it but anything which is a solid
particle but considerably smaller in
size they all pass through that pipe
which is connected to the sink
so all these wastes together form the
wastewater or the sewage so what is this
shoe is made up of what is this waste
water what does it contain so obviously
it contains majority of water but in
that water I present certain undesirable
components which make it sewage which
makes it waste water so some of the
components are organic impurities
organic impurities includes human
excreta animal wastes urea which is
present in Ewing oil vegetable wastes
pesticides so all of these fall under
the category of organic impurities
because they all contain carbon second
type of impurities could be in organic
impurities for example nitrates
phosphates and all these nitrates and
phosphates they are mostly present in
fertilizers as well as as chemicals
metallic impurities so all these are
inorganic impurities a lot of
microorganisms are also present in the
wastewater and these microorganisms are
capable of causing a lot of deadly
diseases in human beings
for example bacteria viruses they can
cause many diseases like cholera typhoid
dysentery
in fact : a typhoid diseases like this
are caused by consuming
dirty water so that is why it is always
advised to make sure that the water
which you are using for drinking
purposes or even or even for cooking
purposes that is clean so a lot of
methods have been incorporated ensure
that the water is free from
microorganisms so these are some of the
things which are present in the sewage
and we do not want them so we do not
mean either want organic impurities

any of them so what do we do what do we
do with this shoe it so this sewage
which contains all these undesirable
things it is passed to the sewage
treatment plant and in the sewage
treatment plant what happens is the
pollutants are removed the undesirable
substances are removed to a very very
large extent and then the water which we
receive that is disposed into the water
bodies for example the wastewater which
contains so many dirty things which is
extremely harmful for living organisms
so if we directly dispose that water now
when we rinse our mouths and put the
water in the sink where does it go it
goes through the pipelines to the main
pipe and then it goes to the drains in
the community in our community and from
there the smaller pipes joined together
to form a bigger pipe so at the end we
will see that there is one big pipe
which contains all the dirty water all
the waste water and that gets dumped
into a river so what are we doing with
the river the river water is getting
polluted the river water is getting
contaminated with all these undesirable
substances so direct disposal of sewage
into water bodies is extremely is a
strict no no because if we do that we
are actually polluting the entire water
of that river or that ocean or that pond
so instead of doing that what we do is
first we treat this village so we
collect all the sewage from a particular
community we put it into the sewage
treatment plant now we will talk about
the sewage treatment plan in more detail
but inside this plant what happens in
here all the pollutants are removed so
the pollutants or the undesirable
substances already moved here and then
what you will be get that is a lot lot
more clean water and that clean water is
then disposed into the water body saying
that key in in this way we have even
utilized the wastewater so there ways to
water also add it up to the water body
and it is also capable of being used for
various purposes
that that saying that concept of sewage
treatment now the question is how the
sewage reaches from our homes to the
sewage treatment plant who carries it to
helps in the transportation so there
this entire transport system is known as
sewerage so it is a network of big and
small pipes and these pipes helping
carrying sewage from one place to
another
so this sewerage explains you how
exactly the wastewater travels from the
source of production which may be our
kitchen sink or maybe our toilets or
maybe any other sink inside our house to
the sewage treatment plant so these
network of pipes these are known as
sewers and this entire network of pipes
are called Shiva Ridge now certain pipes
are small like the pipes which directly
comes from the toilet or from the sinks
they are smaller pipes and there's all
those smaller pipes put their contents
into a bigger pipe which is like a main
pipe so it is something like this many
small pipes like this they are actually
getting connected to a bigger pipe like
this so this is a bigger pipe so all
these smaller pipes will put their
content into the bigger pipe and that's
how the pipes will help in transporting
the waste water from one place to
another so see village is basically the
transport system of sewage so we will
