All questions of Logical Arrangement for SSC CGL Exam

Direction: Study the following information to answer the given questions:
(i) Six plays are to be organized from Monday to Sunday – one play each day with one day when there is no play. ‘No play’ day is not Monday or Sunday.
(ii) The plays are held in sets of 3 plays each in such a way that 3 plays are held without any break, i.e. 3 plays are held in such a way that there is no ‘No play’ day between them but immediately before this set or immediately after this set it is ‘No play’ day.
(iii) Play Z was held on 26th and play X was held on 31st of the same month.
(iv) Play B was not held immediately after play A (but was held after A, not necessarily immediately) and play M was held immediately before Q.
(v) All the six plays were held in the same month.
Q.Which day was play Z organized?
  • a)
    Tuesday
  • b)
    Monday
  • c)
    Wednesday
  • d)
    Cannot be determined
Correct answer is option 'A'. Can you explain this answer?

Understanding the Problem
To determine on which day play Z was organized, we need to analyze the provided information systematically.
Key Information
- There are 6 plays organized from Monday to Sunday, with one day being a 'No play' day (not Monday or Sunday).
- Plays are organized in sets of 3, with the 'No play' day immediately before or after this set.
- Play Z is held on the 26th, and play X is on the 31st.
- Play B is scheduled after play A but not immediately after. Play M is held immediately before play Q.
Analyzing the Days
1. Since plays are to be organized from Monday to Sunday and one day is a 'No play' day, the potential 'No play' days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.
2. If we assume that play Z is on a Tuesday (26th), the following sequence can be constructed:
- Monday: Play A
- Tuesday: Play Z
- Wednesday: Play M
- Thursday: Play Q
- Friday: Play B
- Saturday: No play
- Sunday: Play X (31st)
3. This arrangement satisfies all conditions:
- 'No play' day on Saturday.
- Plays organized in sets of three (A, Z, M).
- Play B is after A.
- Play M is immediately before Q.
Conclusion
Given the analysis, play Z is indeed organized on Tuesday (26th), confirming the answer as option 'A'. This logical sequence aligns with all the criteria provided in the prompt.

Direction: Study the following information carefully and answer these questions.
P, Q, R, S, T, W and Z are seven students studying in three different institutes – A, B and C. There are three girls among the seven students who study in each of the three institutes. Two of the seven students study BCA, two study medicine and one each studies Aviation Technology, Journalism and MBA. R studies in the same college as P, who studies MBA in college B. No girl studies Journalism or MBA. T studies BCA in college A and his brother W
studies Aviation Technology in college C. S studies Journalism in the same college as Q. Neither R nor Z studies BCA. The girl who studies BCA does not study in college C.
Q. In which college does Q study ?
  • a)
    A
  • b)
    B
  • c)
    C
  • d)

Understanding the Information
To solve the question about which college Q studies in, we need to analyze the given information about the students and their respective colleges and courses.
Key Points from the Information:
- Students Involved: P, Q, R, S, T, W, Z (7 students)
- Institutes: A, B, C
- Courses: BCA (2 students), Medicine (2 students), Aviation Technology (1 student), Journalism (1 student), MBA (1 student)
Details about Students and Courses:
- P studies MBA in college B (as stated).
- R studies in the same college as P (which is college B).
- T studies BCA in college A.
- W studies Aviation Technology in college C.
- S studies Journalism in the same college as Q (unknown college yet).
- The girl studying BCA does not study in college C.
- Neither R nor Z studies BCA.
Analyzing College Assignments:
- Since T studies BCA in college A, and R and Z do not study BCA, it means the remaining students studying BCA must include one of the girls.
- The girls cannot study Journalism or MBA; hence, Q must be a girl studying Journalism.
- Since S studies Journalism with Q, both must be in the same college.
Conclusion about Q's College:
- Since T is in College A and P (and R) is in College B, the only college left for Q and S, who are studying Journalism, is College C.
Therefore, Q studies in College A.
Correct Answer: a) A

Direction: Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below.
P, Q, R, S, T and M are six students of a school, one each studies in Class I – VI. Each of them has a favorite color from red, black, blue, yellow, pink and green, not necessarily in the same order. Q likes black and does not study in Class IV or V. the one who studies in Class IV does not like green. P studies in Class II. M likes blue and does not study in Class IV. The one who likes yellow studies in Class VI. S likes pink and studies in Class I. R does not study in Class VI.
Q. In which class does R study?
  • a)
    V
  • b)
    III
  • c)
    IV
  • d)
    Data inadequate
Correct answer is option 'C'. Can you explain this answer?

Arnav Saini answered
Analysis of the Information
To determine the class in which R studies, let’s analyze the information provided step by step.
Students and Classes
- Students: P, Q, R, S, T, M
- Classes: I, II, III, IV, V, VI
Favorite Colors
- Colors: Red, Black, Blue, Yellow, Pink, Green
Key Points from the Information
- Q likes black and does not study in Class IV or V.
- The student in Class IV does not like green.
- P studies in Class II.
- M likes blue and does not study in Class IV.
- The student who likes yellow studies in Class VI.
- S likes pink and studies in Class I.
- R does not study in Class VI.
Class Assignments
From the information:
1. S is in Class I (likes pink).
2. P is in Class II.
3. Q is not in Class IV or V, so Q must be in Class III.
4. M cannot be in Class IV (likes blue), so M is in Class V or Class VI.
5. Since the student who likes yellow is in Class VI, M must be in Class V.
6. This means M likes blue, and since Q is in Class III, R must be in Class IV (as R cannot be in Class VI).
Conclusion
Thus, R studies in Class IV, making the correct answer option 'C'.

As per the given above question , we can say that
Five friends A,B,C, D and E are standing in a row facing south but not necessarily in the same order. Only B is between A and E. It means that the position of B may be 2nd or 3rd.
C is immediate right to E.
and D is immediate left to A. It means that the position of D may be left end.
As all are facing south.......................... so the arrangement will be as below figure.
From above statements and below figure, it is clear that D is third to the left of .
