International Day of Human Space Flight is celebrated every year on 12 April. This day is celebrated in honor of Yuri Gagarin, the first man to go into space.  The UN General Assembly had announced the celebration of this day in the year 2011. On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin of the Soviet Union became the first man to travel around the Earth in space.

Former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Yusuf Raza Gilani has been elected Chairman of the Senate, the upper house of Parliament. Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane recently presided over the first steel cutting of Fleet Support Ships (FSS) for the Indian Navy at Hindustan Shipyard Limited in Visakhapatnam. He also laid the foundation stone for modernization of slipways and key infrastructure to enhance the capacity and efficiency of the yard.

Khanij Videsh India Limited (KABIL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Council of Scientific and Industrial Research- Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT) for technical and knowledge collaboration for Critical Minerals. KABIL is a joint venture of three Indian public sector undertakings, NALCO, HCL and MECL, under the aegis of the Ministry of Mines, Government of India.

The primary focus of COP28 is the implementation of the Paris Agreement adopted in 2015. This agreement aims to limit global warming well below 2 degrees Celsius, preferably to 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels. Discussions will revolve around assessing progress towards achieving these goals, reviewing national climate action plans, and enhancing ambition for future commitments.

The World Soil Day was formally established on December 5, 2014, by the UN General Assembly, recognizing the late King of Thailand's commitment to sustainable soil management. The theme for 2023 is “Soil and Water, a Source of Life.”
