वाक्य में सभी प्रयुक्त सभी पदों (शब्दों) का एक निश्चित क्रम होता है।

यदि शब्दों को निश्चित क्रम में प्रयोग किया जाता है तो पाठक या श्रोता के द्वारा सार्थक अर्थ ग्रहण कर लिया जाता है।

यदि पदों का क्रम बिगाड़ कर लिखा जाता है तो वाक्य का सार्थक अर्थ ग्रहण करना दूभर होता है।

1. वाक्य में पहले कर्ता, फिर कर्म तथा अन्त में क्रिया आती है।
जैसे- बालक दूध पीता है।
2. यदि क्रिया अकर्मक है तो वाक्य में पहले कर्ता फिर क्रिया आती है।
जैसे- बालिका सोती है।
3. विस्मयादि बोधक शब्द वाक्य के आरंभ में आते हैं।
जैसे- हाय! वह मर गया।
4. जहाँ प्रश्नवाचक वाक्यों हाँ/नहीं उत्तर वाले प्रश्नों में 'क्या' प्रश्नवाचक शब्द वाक्य के आरंभ में आते हैं तथा शेष प्रश्नवाचक शब्द प्रायः वाक्य के मध्य में आते हैं।
जैसे -

क्या तुम मुंबई जाओगे ? (हाँ/ना)
दरवाजे पर कौन खड़ा है?
5. क्रिया-विशेषण शब्द, क्रिया के पूर्व आते हैं।
जैसे- वह धीरे-धीरे लिख रही है।

सही उत्तर है - ‘क्रांति’।

• गद्यांश के रिक्त स्थान (1) के लिए सर्वाधिक उपयुक्त शब्द होगा - क्रांति।
