Utility or usability is what makes an object or substance a resource. Example: water textbook etc.
Some resources have economic value while some do not.  Example: Metals may have an economic value a beautiful landscape may not. But both satisfy human needs so these are considered as resource.
Some resources can become economically valuable with time.

It is true that people are considered as important resources because unlike other resources, human resource can use themselves as well as the other resources also. But, not all kinds of resources can do so. So, people are a very important resource.

Natural resources are resources that are withdrawn from nature and exist without actions of humankind. This includes all valued characteristics such as magnetic, gravitational, and electrical properties and forces. On earth it includes: sunlight, atmosphere, water, land (includes all minerals) along with all vegetation and animal life that naturally subsists upon or within the heretofore identified characteristics and substances.

A resource is any physical material constituting part of Earth that people need and value. Natural materials become resources when humans value them. Some resources are finite, while others can be replenished at varying rates.

All the living and non-living things that surround an organism make up its environment. The living or the biotic components include the life forms surrounding the organism. These may include plants and other organisms (some of which may be its prey, while some may be its predators). Similarly, the non-living or abiotic things surrounding an organism include the likes of temperature, soil, moisture, wind, light, etc.
