Sikkim and West Bengal are the two states that share a border with Nepal and Bhutan.

Palk Strait is a strait between the Tamil Nadu state of India and the Mannar district of the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. It connects the Bay of Bengal in the northeast with the Palk Bay and then with the Gulf of Mannar in the southwest.

The flat Indo-Gangetic plains are an extremely fertile area. The ancient civilizations of Indus Valley and Vedic period flourished here. Usually, the dynasties that established control over this fertile Gangetic plain also established empires in this area.

Sri Lanka does not share land boundary with India. Sri Lanka is an island nation south of India in the Indian Ocean. The Island was formerly known as Ceylon. Sri Lanka shares maritime borders with Maldives and India. India and Sri Lanka held maritime boundary agreements in 1974 and 1976 that defined the international maritime boundary between the two states.

Lakshadweep is India's smallest union territory and a group of 36 islands is known for its exotic beaches. These islands have been built up by corals and have fringing coral reefs very close to their shores. The coral group of islands of India are situated at the southern end of the 200-km-broad Nine Degree Channel.

Telangana is the 29th and newest state of India. Its capital is Hyderabad. It is surrounded by 4 states namely Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. It was formed on 2 June 2014.

A neighbouring country but not a part of Indian subcontinent is China. Politically,the Indian subcontinent is said to comprise of the following seven States(countries): India,Pakistan,Nepal,Bhutan,Bangla Desh, Sri Lanka and Maldives. There is no consensus about the limits of the Subcontinent.

Nepal is bounded by India from 3 sides - South, East and West. Nepal has boundaries with five of the Indian states. They are Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Altogether 26 out of 75 districts of Nepal have border linkages with India.

India shares a land boundary with Bangladesh(4096 KM), China (3488 KM), Pakistan(3323 KM), Nepal(1751 KM), Myanmar(1643 KM), Bhutan(699 KM) and  Afghanistan ( As POK is disputed area occupied by Pakistan so no direct access, but its claimed by India). So with a total of 7 nations, India shares a land border.
