World Youth Chess Championship 2019 was held in Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel in Mumbai, India from 1st to 13th October 2019. The Championship was organized by the Fédération Internationale des Échecs(FIDE) or International Chess Federation. India bagged seven medals (highest medals than any other country) in the Championship including 1 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medal. Russia won 5 medals in the Championship and followed by India.

3 days long first India International CooperativeTrade Fair(IICTF) 2019 was held at PragatiMaidan in New Delhi from October 11-13, 2019. The 10th edition of the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav (RSM)-National Cultural Festival under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat was inaugurated on October 14, 2019, in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh(MP) by the MP governor Shri Lalji Tandon in presence of Culture and Tourism minister Prahlad Singh Patel. Vice President of India, Mr M. Venkaiah Naidu held a 5 day tour to Comoros and Sierra Leone (African countries) from October 10-14, 2019. It was the first-ever visit by a high-level Indian dignitary to Comoros, an archipelago situated off the Southeast coast of Africa and to Sierra Leone.

On October 14, 2019, Canada’s Margaret Atwood (79) for her novel ‘The Testament’ and Britain’s Bernardine Everisto (60) for ‘Girl, Woman, Other’, have been jointly chosen as the winner of 2019 Booker Prize. Bernardine is the 1st black woman to receive this award in the 50-year history of the Booker Prize. At the same time, 79-year-old Atwood is the oldest winner of this award. On October 14, 2019 4 heritage landmarks from India were chosen for the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation 2019.
