With 68 new unicorns, India lags behind the US and China, which have 666 and 316 unicorns, respectively. A report by Mercer’s Cost of Living has positioned Mumbai as the most expensive city in India for expatriates.
According to the report, after Mumbai, cities like New Delhi and Bengaluru fall on the second and third place in the most expensive list for expats list in India. The Mercer’s Cost of Living survey was conducted across 227 cities from across five continents.

The Global Slavery Index 2023 was published recently. According to this index, on any given day in 2021, as many as 50 million people were living in “modern slavery”. Among these 50 million, 28 million suffer from forced labour and 22 million from forced marriages. Of these 50 million, 12 million are children. India has 11 million people in modern slavery.

The 5th State Food Safety Index was released on the occasion of World Food Safety Day. It evaluated the performance of states and union territories across six different aspects of food safety. Among the larger states, Kerala secured the top ranking, followed by Punjab and Tamil Nadu. Among the smaller states, Goa emerged as the leader, followed Manipur and Sikkim. Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Chandigarh secured the first three ranks respectively among the UTs.

A report titled “Thriving: Making Cities Green, Resilient, and Inclusive in a Changing Climate” was released recently by the World Bank.
The report highlights the critical role of cities in tackling the global climate challenge. It also warned that cities account for about 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions. The report provided a compass for policymakers to make cities greener, inclusive and more resilient.

Internet in India Report 2022 was released recently by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and Kantar.
According to this report, around 52 percent of the Indian population accessed the internet at least once a month in 2022.
