• The term United Nations, was suggested by United States President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. 
• It was first used in the Declaration by United Nations, signed in Washington, D.C., on 1 January 1942.

• The Charter of the United Nations is the founding document of the United Nations.
• It was signed on 26 June 1945, in San Francisco, at the conclusion of the United Nations Conference.

The Secretary-General is the head of the United Nations.

Every member country is required to pay their share towards peacekeeping.

The principles of United Nations are:

• Equal rights for all memeber countries.
• No use of threat or force in international relations
• All the member countries must obey the Charter.
• Need to ensure that non-United Nations Members act in accordance with its Principles
• Non-intervention in domestic affairs by the United Nations.

The League of Nations was formed after World War I to promote international cooperation and achieve peace and security.

United Nations was formed on 24 October 1945.

The UN's Membership has grown from the original 51 Member States in 1945 to the current 193 Member States.

The main objectives of the United Nations are the maintenance of international peace and security, the promotion of the well-being of everyone in the world, and international cooperation to these ends.

To maintain international peace & security. UN sends military force called peacekeeping force to prevent war.
