The Russian Black Sea Fleet ‘Moskva’ sank off the coast of Odessa after a missile strike on the ship. Russians claimed that an onboard ammunition fire caused the blasts on the ship, while the Ukrainians stated that it was a planned strike using the Neptune anti-ship cruise missiles.
The Neptune Missile system was inducted into the Ukrainian Forces in 2021, after Russian threat to the coastal areas of Ukraine was growing rapidly since occupation of Crimea in 2014. The National Level Pollution Response Exercise NATPOLREX is being conducted by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) off Mormugao harbour in Goa.
Union Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar inaugurated the ‘NATPOLREX’, the two-day marine spill preparedness exercise. Over 85 participants from 50 agencies, including observers from 22 friendly foreign countries and International Organisations, and two Coast Guard ships from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh participated in the event.

Defence secretary Ajay Kumar launched INS Vagsheer, the sixth Scorpene-class submarine under Project-75. It is named after the sand fish, a predator of the Indian Ocean.
The Mazagon Dock has already delivered four Scorpene-class submarines under the project to the Indian Navy – INS Kalvari, INS Khanderi, INS Karanj and INS Vela. The fifth submarine ‘Vagir’ is under trial at sea, and is set to be commissioned before the end of this year.

The Indian Coast Guard Ship (Auxiliary Barge) named Urja Pravaha has been inducted into the Indian Coast Guard at Gujarat’s Bharuch.
It will be under the operational command of Coast Guard District Headquarters-4 (Kerala and Mahe), in addition to auxiliary barge Urja Shrota, which was based here since 2017. The ship is 36 meters long and is designed to carry Cargo Ship Fuel, Aviation Fuel and Fresh Water.

The Oil India Limited (OIL) commissioned India’s first 99.999 percent pure green hydrogen plant in the state of Assam.
OIL, the second largest national production and exploration firm commissioned the green hydrogen plant at its Jorhat Pump Station. The plant has an installed capacity of producing 10 kg of hydrogen each day. It is also India’s first plant to use AEM (anion exchange membrane).

Expert panel of Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has recommended granting emergency use authorisation for Corbevax for children in 5 to 12 years age group.
Developed by Hyderabad-based firm Biological-E, Corbevax is India’s first indigenously developed RBD protein sub-unit vaccine against Covid-19. At present, Corbevax is being given to children between 12 and 14 years. Covaxin is being given to children in the age group of 15-18 years.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the continuation of the Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme till December 2024.
Through the scheme, affordable collateral-free loans are given to street vendors. The scheme aimed to facilitate loans for an amount of Rs 5,000 crore while the recent approval has increased the loan amount to Rs 8,100 crore.
