• New reforms are aimed to make the tax
system Seamless, Painless, Faceless.
? Seamless: Works to resolve the problems of
a taxpayer instead of entangling them
further.
? Painless: Everything from technology to rules
should be simple.
? Faceless: No need for a direct contact
between the Taxpayer and the Income Tax
Officer.
Significance of the reforms
• Only 1.5 crore people in India pay taxes-
need an efficient and transparent tax system
to widen the tax base.
• Making the lives of honest taxpayers easy is
the responsibility of the government.
• Need a simplified tax system based on trust,
not of force and fear of punishment- example
is GST.
• Maximum governance with minimum government
will create people centric and public friendly
policies, instead of power centric policies.
