The date and time of Earth Hour vary each
year, but it usually takes place on a Saturday in
March or April. Non-essential lights and other
electrical appliances are turned off for one hour
between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm local time.
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) organised the
first Earth Hour in Sydney, Australia in 2007. Since
then, it has become a global movement, with millions of
people participating every year.
What does climate change have to do with Earth Hour?

Earth Hour is an annual event that encourages
individuals and organisations to switch off their lights
for one hour. It is a symbolic gesture to show support
for the planet and the fight against climate change.
Earth Hour provides an opportunity for people to reflect on their own energy consumption
habits, and make positive changes to their daily lives to reduce their carbon footprint.
