Animals can be classified into two main
categories:  
1. Animals without backbones: Some
animals like amoeba, jellyfish,
earthworms, roundworms, snails,
insects, and starfish do not have
backbones (spinal column).  
2. Animals with backbone: Fish,
amphibians, reptiles, birds, and
mammals are animals that have a
backbone to support their body.
