What is Soil?
Soil is the top layer of the Earth
where plants grow. 
It is made of tiny pieces of rocks,
dead plants and animals, air,
water, and small living things
like insects and bacteria. 
Soil helps plants grow by giving

Soil takes a very long time to
form. It does not happen in
one day but over many,
many years.
Breaking of Rocks: Rocks
break into small pieces
due to sunlight, rain, and
wind. This process is
called weathering.
