Statement
A system is stable if and only if 
all the elements in the first 
column of the Routh array have 
the same sign. The number of 
sign changes equals the 
number of roots with positive 
real parts.
Necessary Conditions
All coefficients of the 
characteristic equation must 
have the same sign, and there 
should be no missing terms.
Important Note
Meeting the necessary 
conditions doesn't guarantee 
stability. The Routh-Hurwitz 
Criterion must be applied to 
confirm stability.
This criterion, developed by Alfred Hurwitz and Edward Routh, provides a systematic approach to determine
