Fun with Give and Take
Summary
We use addition when we put together two or more amounts. e.g.
 14 + 38 = 52, 52 > 14 and 52 > 38
 0 + 25 = 25, 25 = 25
The sum is always greater than the numbers being added, except when one
of the numbers being added is zero.
 We use subtraction when:
(a) We need to find out how many are left.
   5
   -2
  – = 3
   3 balloons are left
(b) We need to compare groups. 6 > 4
   6
   -4
   2
        Here we have 2 bats
   more than balls.
