Seeking Justice: The Redressal 
System
COPRA created a three-tier system to help 
consumers fight unfair practices:
District Commission: Cases up to ¹1 crore
State Commission: Cases between ¹1 crore and ¹10 crore
National Commission: Cases above ¹10 crore
You can appeal from district to state to national 
level if needed. File complaints with or without a 
lawyer's help.
Right to Seek Redressal
Fight unfair trade practices and claim 
compensation. The system provides 
easy access to consumer forums for 
dispute resolution.
Right to Representation
Consumer forums and protection 
councils guide you through filing cases 
and often represent you in Consumer 
Disputes Redressal Commissions.
Exploitation in the Marketplace
Common unfair practices include underweighing products, hidden charges, selling expired 
goods, and forcing unwanted purchases. In rural areas, moneylenders exploit farmers with 
high interest rates, sometimes forcing them to sell land.
