1. What is the NEET exam?
Ans. NEET stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. It is a national level entrance exam conducted in India for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate medical and dental courses (MBBS and BDS) in government or private medical colleges.
2. What is the eligibility criteria for NEET?
Ans. The eligibility criteria for NEET include the following: - The candidate must be an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI). - The minimum age limit is 17 years as of 31st December of the year of admission. - The maximum age limit is 25 years for general category candidates and 30 years for reserved category candidates. - The candidate must have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects. - The minimum aggregate marks required in the qualifying examination differ for different categories.
3. How is the NEET exam conducted?
Ans. The NEET exam is conducted in offline mode (pen and paper-based). The question paper consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with a total of 180 questions. The exam duration is 3 hours. The questions are based on the syllabus prescribed by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and cover topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology).
4. How is the NEET exam scored?
Ans. The NEET exam is scored out of 720 marks. Each correct answer carries 4 marks, while 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. No marks are deducted for unanswered questions. The raw scores obtained by the candidates are converted into percentile scores to determine their ranks. The percentile scores are based on the relative performance of all the candidates who appeared for the exam.
