A toroid is filled with liquid oxygen that has a susceptibility of 4×1...
Solution:

Given, susceptibility (χ) = 4×10⁻³, number of turns (N) = 2000, current (I) = 15A, mean radius (R) = 20cm and radius of cross section (r) = 0.8cm

The magnetic field (B) produced by the toroid is given by:

B = (μ₀NI)/(2πR) …(1)

where, μ₀ is the permeability of free space.

Now, the magnetic field produced by the toroid when it is filled with the liquid oxygen is given by:

B’ = B(1-χ) …(2)

where, χ is the susceptibility of the liquid oxygen.

The percentage decrease in B is given by:

[(B-B’)/B] × 100

Substituting the values from equations (1) and (2), we get:

[(μ₀NI)/(2πR) - (μ₀NI)/(2πR)(1-χ)]/[(μ₀NI)/(2πR)] × 100

Simplifying, we get:

χ × 100

Substituting the given value of susceptibility, we get:

4×10⁻³ × 100 = 0.4%

Therefore, the percentage decrease in B produced by the liquid oxygen is 0.4%.
