Differentiate between complementary goods and substitute goods?
Differentiate b/w Complemantary & Substitute goods. *.Complementary goods are those goods which complete the demand for each other. So if the price of complementary good (petrol) increase than the demand of own good (Car) decrease & if the price of complementary good decrease than the demand of own good increase. So, there is a negative relationship b/w price of complementary good & demand of own good. Here, own good =Car Complementary good = petrol.*.Substitute goods: substitute goods are those goods which can be substitute for each other. For e.g. Tea & Coffee, so, if the price of substitute good increase (coffee) than the demand of own good (Tea) increase. & if the price of Substitute good decrease than the demand of own good deacrese. So, there is positive relationship b/w price of substitute good & demand of own good. Here, substitute good = CoffeeOwn good = Tea
