A wooden cube just floats inside water with a 200gm mass placed on it....
Volume of cube=area× height

200=x^2 × 2

x^2= 200÷2

x^2 = 100

therefore; x=10 cm...!!hope u clear..!😊

A wooden cube just floats inside water with a 200gm mass placed on it....
Given:

Mass of object (m) = 200 gm

Distance of cube from water level (h) = 2 cm

To find:

Length of the side of the cube (s)

Assumption:

Assuming density of water to be 1 gm/cm³

Solution:

Step 1: Calculate the weight of the object

Weight of object (w) = m * g, where g = 9.8 m/s²

Weight of object (w) = 200/1000 * 9.8 = 1.96 N

Step 2: Calculate the buoyant force on the cube when the object is placed on it

Buoyant force (Fb) = weight of water displaced by the cube

Volume of cube (V) = s³

Weight of water displaced by the cube (W) = V * density of water * g

Weight of water displaced by the cube (W) = s³ * 1 * 9.8

Weight of water displaced by the cube (W) = 9.8 s³

Buoyant force (Fb) = 9.8 s³

Net upward force on the cube (Fn) when the object is placed on it

Fn = Fb - w

Fn = 9.8 s³ - 1.96

Step 3: Calculate the volume of water displaced by the cube when the object is removed

Volume of water displaced by the cube = s² * h

Step 4: Calculate the buoyant force on the cube when the object is removed

Buoyant force (Fb) = weight of water displaced by the cube

Weight of water displaced by the cube (W) = V * density of water * g

Weight of water displaced by the cube (W) = s³ * 1 * 9.8

Weight of water displaced by the cube (W) = 9.8 s³

Buoyant force (Fb) = 9.8 s³

Step 5: Calculate the net upward force on the cube when the object is removed

Fn = Fb

Fn = 9.8 s³

Step 6: Equate the net upward force on the cube when the object is placed on it and when it is removed

9.8 s³ - 1.96 = 9.8 s³

1.96 = 9.8 s³ - 9.8 s³

1.96 = 0

Conclusion:

The above equation is not possible. Therefore, the cube cannot float with its top surface 2 cm above the water level when the object is removed. Hence, the given information is not possible.
