In projectile motion why is the acceleration component of the particle along x-axis zero??
Most Upvoted Answer
In projectile motion why is the acceleration component of the particle...
**Explanation of Projectile Motion**

Projectile motion is the motion of an object that is launched into the air and moves along a curved trajectory under the influence of gravity. The motion can be divided into two perpendicular components: horizontal (x-axis) and vertical (y-axis). The horizontal component of motion is characterized by constant velocity, while the vertical component is influenced by the force of gravity and exhibits acceleration.

**Acceleration in Projectile Motion**

In projectile motion, the acceleration component along the x-axis is zero. This is due to the absence of any external force acting horizontally on the object. To understand why the acceleration along the x-axis is zero, let's consider the forces acting on the projectile.

1. **Force of Gravity:** The force of gravity acts vertically downward on the projectile. It accelerates the object in the vertical direction, causing it to gain speed as it falls. However, this force does not have any effect on the horizontal motion.

2. **Horizontal Velocity:** The object has an initial horizontal velocity that remains constant throughout its motion, assuming no other forces act on it. In the absence of any external force, the horizontal velocity does not change, and therefore, there is no acceleration along the x-axis.

**Newton's First Law**

Newton's first law of motion states that an object will remain at rest or move with constant velocity in a straight line unless acted upon by an external force. Since there is no force acting horizontally on the projectile, it continues to move with a constant horizontal velocity, maintaining its direction.

**Conclusion**

In projectile motion, the acceleration component along the x-axis is zero because there is no external force acting horizontally on the object. The only force that influences the motion is the force of gravity, which acts vertically and causes acceleration along the y-axis. Understanding the separation of motion into horizontal and vertical components allows us to analyze projectile motion and predict the path of the object accurately.

In projectile motion why is the acceleration component of the particle...
Acceleration always occurs in that direction if there is a force is applied in that direction . so when we throw a projectile , only force due to gravity is acting downwards and no force is present in the X-axis so in X-axis there is no acceleration produced.
