Ban Crackers Save Environment

Burning crackers on festivals and other celebrations causes unprecedented air and noise pollution. In the name of celebrating the festivals people give excuses for this mass pollution drive. We must celebrate festivals differently. Our cities have already become polluted to the maximum. Let’s not pollute them anymore! Cannot we celebrate festivals without crackers? Is it compulsory to fill our already polluted environment with more poison? Are we wise in doing so? Why do we precipitate the process of our own fall and sufferings? Bursting fire crackers has only disadvantages! Wastage of money, poisonous smoke, unbearable noise, fire accidents, garbage, litter, etc! And still we want to burst them!

Crackers often contain elements like copper, cadmium, sulphur, aluminium and barium to produce the vibrant colours once ignited. The harmful gases produced from the bursting of crackers, such as Nitrous Oxide, remains in the air for a long time if the city doesn't get enough rain or strong winds. Inhaling the fumes emitted by firecrackers increases the chances of asthma attack among patients. Heart patients and patients of chronic bronchitis and low immune system are at high risk too.

Let’s join hands to say no to crackers while celebrating festivals. Let’s not poison the air our children breathe. We have the responsibility of bequeathing a cleaner and healthier future. The Government must ban crackers. Let's ensure safety,   ecurity, and better environment for us and our children. If we won’t ensure their safety and happiness, who else will?

Article on the Ban on Crackers by Delhi Administration

Introduction:
The Delhi administration recently imposed a ban on the sale and use of firecrackers in the city during the festive season. This decision has been taken in order to address the growing concerns surrounding air pollution and its detrimental effects on the health of the residents. Let us delve deeper into the reasons behind this ban and its potential impact.

Reasons behind the Ban:
- Rising Air Pollution: Delhi has been grappling with severe air pollution for several years, particularly during the winter months. The bursting of firecrackers during festivals exacerbates the problem by releasing harmful pollutants such as sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and particulate matter into the atmosphere.
- Health Hazards: The pollution caused by firecrackers leads to various health issues, especially among vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and those with respiratory problems. The ban aims to protect the well-being of the citizens and reduce the burden on the already strained healthcare system.
- Environmental Concerns: Firecrackers not only pollute the air but also contribute to noise pollution and generate large amounts of non-biodegradable waste. The ban on crackers aligns with the government's efforts to promote environmental sustainability and waste management.

Impact of the Ban:
- Improved Air Quality: By curbing the use of firecrackers, the ban is expected to have a positive impact on the city's air quality. This will provide relief to individuals suffering from respiratory illnesses and contribute to a healthier living environment.
- Reduced Noise Pollution: The ban will also result in a significant reduction in noise pollution, providing respite to both humans and animals who are often distressed by the loud sounds produced by firecrackers.
- Awareness and Behavior Change: The ban serves as a wake-up call for citizens to reconsider their actions and make more conscious choices. It encourages individuals to explore alternative ways of celebrating festivals without compromising on the joy and spirit of the occasion.

Conclusion:
The ban on crackers by the Delhi administration is a commendable step towards combating air pollution and promoting public health. It not only addresses the immediate concerns related to pollution and health hazards but also initiates a larger conversation about environmental sustainability and responsible celebration. By adhering to this ban and adopting eco-friendly alternatives, we can contribute to a cleaner and greener future for Delhi and its residents.
