The acceleration depends on what force is acting on the body. If we assume the body is dropped near the surface of the Earth, and assume no forces other than gravity, then the acceleration is 9.8 m/s�. Therefore after three seconds the velocity would be 3 x 9.8, or 29.4 m/s. (This would be the velocity after three seconds, regardless of the height it was dropped from.)
