Describe the story of Pakistan and Zimbabwe on the basis of democracy?
In Pakistan parvez musshraf lead the military coup in 1997 and declared himself as the president of Pakistan and he can diminished the power of the parliament members in order to pass the bill the members have no power to pass the bill .parvez said the bill should passed when military head given order for this . All powers were given to militaries no descions power were given to parliament that's why here democracy is ruined
by parvez musshraf. And in Zimbabwe the Robert mugabe wins every elections through dirty tricks the news channel ,social media all are in the favour of party PRI but the newspaper was independent and if any journalists stand against their party the law punishes him. And in government school and colleges teachers of their school suggest them to say to your parents to vote for PRI and if they don't do this then their children were not able to study there so mostly of citizens also taking money to vote for PRI due to that people had no choice and they vote to mugabe and the party wins so I think democracy is not exists here due to non independent to their vote they vote in pressure.

The Story of Democracy in Pakistan and Zimbabwe

Introduction
Democracy is a political system that allows citizens to participate in decision-making processes and elect their representatives. Both Pakistan and Zimbabwe have experienced significant developments in their democratic systems, although the paths they have taken differ in many aspects.

Pakistan

Historical Context
1. Pakistan gained independence from British colonial rule in 1947 and adopted a parliamentary democratic system.
2. The initial years were marked by political instability, with frequent military interventions and coups.

Democratic Progress
1. In 1971, Pakistan experienced a civil war resulting in the secession of East Pakistan, which became Bangladesh.
2. Periodic elections were held, but military rule remained prominent throughout the country's history.
3. The democratic process faced numerous challenges, including corruption, weak institutions, and political polarization.

Recent Developments
1. In recent years, Pakistan has taken significant steps towards strengthening its democracy.
2. The 18th Amendment to the Constitution in 2010 decentralized power, granting more autonomy to the provinces.
3. The 2018 general elections saw a peaceful transfer of power from one civilian government to another for the first time in Pakistan's history.
4. The current government has focused on improving governance, accountability, and participatory decision-making.

Zimbabwe

Historical Context
1. Zimbabwe gained independence from British colonial rule in 1980.
2. Initially, the country had a relatively stable democratic system under President Robert Mugabe.

Democratic Progress
1. Over time, Mugabe's regime became increasingly authoritarian, suppressing opposition and manipulating elections.
2. The ruling party, ZANU-PF, held a monopoly on power, limiting the space for genuine political competition and citizen participation.
3. The media faced restrictions, and human rights abuses were reported.

Recent Developments
1. In November 2017, Mugabe was ousted from power through a military intervention, leading to a transition of power.
2. The new government under President Emmerson Mnangagwa promised political and economic reforms, including opening up political space and holding free and fair elections.
3. The 2018 elections were a step towards democratic progress, although concerns regarding transparency and fairness persisted.
4. Zimbabwe continues to face challenges in consolidating its democracy, such as addressing corruption, promoting human rights, and fostering an inclusive political environment.

Conclusion
Both Pakistan and Zimbabwe have experienced complex journeys in their democratic trajectories. While Pakistan has made significant strides in recent years, Zimbabwe is still in the process of consolidating its democratic institutions. Continuous efforts are required to ensure the protection of democratic values, the rule of law, and the participation of citizens in decision-making processes in both countries.
