Initial Phase - Distance and Formality:
- At the beginning of the chapter, the grandmother and the grandson are portrayed as distant and formal with each other.
- The grandmother is described as a stern and authoritative figure, while the grandson, who is narrating the story, views her as a "tyrant."
- Their interactions are limited to superficial conversations and occasional scoldings.

Explorative Phase - Curiosity and Reconnection:
- As the grandson stumbles upon the portrait of his grandmother as a young lady, he becomes curious about her past.
