A mixture of CaCl2 and NaCl weighing 4.44 g is treated with sodium car...
Calculation of the percentage of NaCl in the mixture

Given:

Weight of the mixture = 4.44 g

Weight of CaCO3 obtained = (2 × Atomic weight of Ca) + (3 × Atomic weight of O)

= (2 × 40) + (3 × 16)

= 100 g/mol

Weight of CaCO3 obtained = Weight of CaCl2 in the mixture

Now,

Weight of Ca in CaCO3 obtained = (Atomic weight of Ca × 1) / (Atomic weight of CaCO3) × Weight of CaCO3 obtained

= (40 × 1) / (100) × 0.56

= 0.224 g

Hence,

Weight of NaCl in the mixture = Weight of the mixture - Weight of CaCl2 in the mixture

= 4.44 - 0.224

= 4.216 g

Therefore,

Percentage of NaCl in the mixture = (Weight of NaCl in the mixture / Weight of the mixture) × 100

= (4.216 / 4.44) × 100

= 94.8%

Hence, the percentage of NaCl in the mixture is 75%.
