Q. A particle moves for 20s with velocity 3m/s and then moves with velocity 4m/s for another 20s and finally moves with velocity 5m/s for next 20s what is the average velocity of the particle? (in m/s)?
Verified Answer
Q. A particle moves for 20s with velocity 3m/s and then moves with vel...
Ans.

Method to Solve :

S1 = 20s*3m/sec = 60 m

S2 = 20s*4m/sec = 80 m

S3 = 20S*5m/sec = 100 m

S = S1+S2+S3 = 240 m

t = 20*3 = 60 sec

V av = S/t = 240/60 = 4.0 m/sec

Calculating Average Velocity:
- To calculate the average velocity of the particle, we can use the formula:
Average velocity = Total displacement / Total time taken

Calculating Total displacement:
- The particle moves with different velocities for 20s each, so the total displacement can be calculated by adding the individual displacements.
- Displacement for the first 20s = 3m/s * 20s = 60m
- Displacement for the next 20s = 4m/s * 20s = 80m
- Displacement for the final 20s = 5m/s * 20s = 100m
- Total displacement = 60m + 80m + 100m = 240m

Calculating Total time taken:
- Since the particle moves for 20s at each velocity, the total time taken is 20s + 20s + 20s = 60s

Calculating Average velocity:
- Average velocity = Total displacement / Total time taken
- Average velocity = 240m / 60s = 4m/s
Therefore, the average velocity of the particle is 4m/s. This means that if the particle had moved with a constant velocity of 4m/s for the entire 60s, it would have covered the same total displacement as it did with the varying velocities.
