Short note on indian desert , tha central island, the island group of india?
Verified Answer
Short note on indian desert , tha central island, the island group of ...
1. The Indian desert: it extends towards the Western edge of the Aravali ranges.  It is a moving sandy field embraced with sand knolls. This area experiences below 150 mm per year rainfall, which is very low. The arid climate and moderate vegetation are the two most important features of the Indian desert. River Luni is one of the important rivers that flow through the Indian desert but due to high evaporation rates it disappears in the sand and does not reach the sea.

2. The Islands groups of India:  Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Island are the two main island groups of India. Located opposite to the Kerala coast the Lakshadweep has consisted of many small islands. The Lakshadweep group islands are composed of coral sediments termed ‘atolls’ in Malayalam refers to their ring or ‘horseshoe’ in shape. The size of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is great. While the number of these islands is very high they are likewise extensively scattered.

3. The Central Highlands: the portion of the peninsular plain extending to the north of the  River Nar-mada embracing a larger region of the Malwa plateau is recognized as the Central Highlands. The Vindhyan Mountain is surrounded by the Central Highlands on the Southland and the Aravali chain on the northwest. These highlands are extended in the west merely confined in the east.

4. The Deccan Plateau: this plateau is a three-sided mainland that extends to the south of the river Narmada in India. The Satpura Mountain flanks its extensive base in the northland while the Mahadev, the Kaimur ranges and the Maikal chain form its eastward expansion. The three main hill ranges in this plateau are the Garo, Khasi and Jaintia hills (from west to east).
