The net acceleration acting on the bob will be the resultant of g and qE/m, Where qE is the electrostatic force on the bob and so it's accn due to this force becomes F/m. This force will act perpendicular to the plates and g is parallel to the plates. So to calculate resultant of the acceleration vectors, the cos 90 part becomes 0. Thus finally replace the g in the general eqn with the result acceleration
