The top eight ranks in the state-level dance competition are bagged by the students of top three state schools – DBS, KVL and ABVM. The eight toppers are P, Q, R, S, T, U, V and W, in no particular order. Three of them study in KVL, three in DBS and two in ABVM. Please use the information given below and figure out the ranks and schools of the eight girls.
The girl who gets Rank 1 does not study in ABVM. T’s rank is better than that of Q. The girl who gets Rank 8 does not study in KVL. S studies in DBS. 3) U’s rank is better than that of both P and S, but less than that of both W and Q.
Thus, W, Q > U > S, P
4) V’s rank is less than that of S but better than that of P.
Thus, S > V > P
Combining the above two statements, we get the result as follows:
W, Q > U > S > V > P
Below W, we have 4 ranks. So we fill them in the order obtained above.
Thus the order becomes:
Q > W > U > S > V > P
5) T’s rank is better than that of Q.
Thus, T’s > Q
6) S studies in DBS.
7) V studies neither in KVL nor in ABVM.
