Verified Answer
There are three brothers. The sums of ages of two of them at a time ar...
Let their ages be a, b and c
⇒ a + b = 4 ---- 1
⇒ b + c = 6 ---- 2
⇒ c + a = 8 ---- 3
Adding all the equations
⇒ 2(a + b + c) = 18
⇒ a + b + c = 9 years
As, a + b = 4
⇒ c = 5 years
Substituting in second and third equations
⇒ b = 1 year and a = 3 years
∴ Difference in the ages of eldest and youngest = 5 – 1 = 4 years
